Title: Salty's New Voice of the Massless
Post by: Ƨɒlƚy on 09 June, 2009, 05:01:07 pm
Herein, I talk about random things as the mood takes me, most likely a different one each day.

God I love Queen's music. Their videos are good too. I wish I could sing like Freddie.

Sorry, it's just that whole "Don't know when to stop" thing. I see you not running away with your tail between your legs, I aim and fire.

On another note, I've finally got my own computer! No more sharing with the uneducated peons that comprise the rest of my familial unit, though it does need a new OS. I mean, it works well enough, but 2000? Eesh.

So, who else here likes steak? Because I know that I sure as hell do. I pick up that bloody filet mignon, season it, marinade it, rack it, start the fire, then grill the hell out of it, all to make a piece of stake that explodes with mesquite flavor in your mouth.

So, I went to my cousin's wedding last night. Big deal, about a hundred people in the chapel, nice short ceremony. Then came the reception, which included, basically, HOURS of waiting in order to get food (no surprise there, really), light conversation, and a lot of family.

And I mean a lot of family. Never knew I had relatives in New Mexico and Iowa before...

So I just helped my father move an armoire-cum-TV cabinet. He borrowed a truck from one of my uncles, and we drove down there, picked it up, and drove it back. Took a lot longer than I thought it would, though.

Well, last night was a blast.

Recently, I've been hired on as a roadie for this Irish-Latin band. So I drove down to the place where they have their gig, which is this nice wine bar/restaurant, and got there before they did. (of course) First the guitarist came along, bringing his goddam gigantic speakers and their stands with him. I gotta tell ya, that's without a doubt the hardest part of the whole thing. Then along came the fiddler, but she was simple, just a mic and a jack to plug into her violin. Finally, the drummer showed up. Now, I know how most drum sets look, but his wasn't like that at all. It's this steel monstrosity that I have to assemble piece by piece out of bars and twists and it generally requires me to ask a lot what he wants it to look like for any particular gig. I swear, the damn thing's arcane. So I finally got that assembled and all the way up to the staging area, and then I got to do the easy part; plugging everything in. I did all that, then joined a friend of mine who'd driven down with me at a table while they played. They're a great band, and they were just having fun that whole time, as was everybody else there (it was outside, natch). So it went on for a few hours until it was time for breakdown, which I gladly did. I then went home and promptly fell asleep for about ten hours.

Aaaaaand it's back, to what I'm sure is the enjoyment of none of you.

So, what to talk about today? How my job hunt has been going? College? The multiple frustrations that I've been dealing with in my daily life?

Actually, that last one sounds pretty good. I haven't really had a good gripe going for a long time.

So, Frustration Number One. The **** Xbox Three-Shitty. I've basically spent half my day working on that thing for the past four days, and it still isn't even working enough for me to play. Sure, I can fix the damn Red Ring all day long, (and a hell of a lot of work that was, I tell you), but that doesn't mean **** if the **** thing will just overheat after 3 **** minutes of playing and leave me stumped as how to mitigate it. At this point, I'm really just considering selling the damn thing to some dope who'll happily pay anywhere between 50 and 100 bucks for it, think he's gotten the better of the deal, and just never look back. Besides getting myself the $300 Elite, of course.

And then there's Frustration Number Two. My damn phone. When I first got it, everything happiness and joy and sunshine and flowers. Then one day I discovered that the screen had decided to turn itself off, and wouldn't turn on again. Oh, the phone worked fine, I just had to remember exactly which buttons to press to do any stated function, but I was never very big on texting or surfing with my phone in the first place. And then, today, I found out it had activated a brand new feature for me to enjoy myself with. Namely, it doesn't produce any sound at all. I can input numbers into it, hit Dial, and talk into the phone all I want. But it doesn't have pad tones, it doesn't ring, and I can't hear the person on the other end. Not a chance. So it's basically an expensive piece of plastic that does ****. Won-der-****-ful.

Something I just came up with because I liked the sound of it. It's call and response, can be done with more than one in the response. Italics is call, bold is response.

I ask thee, who art thou?

I am one with my name!

What is thy name?

I have no name!

Then how art thou known?

I am known by my face!

I ask thee, what is thy face?

I have no face!

Then how art thou seen?

I am not seen but heard!

I ask thee, what sound dost thou make?

I make no sound!

Then how art thou heard?

I am not heard but felt!

I ask thee, how art thou felt?

BY THE BITE OF MY BLADE IN MINE ENEMY'S BACK!
BY THE THE LASH OF THE WIND OF MY PASSAGE AS I CRUSH ALL HE HOLDS DEAR!
BY THE LANDING OF SOIL ON HIS FACE AS THE GRAVEDIGGERS WORK!

I ASK THEE AGAIN, WHO ART THOU?

I AM CHAOS!
NIGHT!
ETERNAL SLEEP!
I AM THE WIND THAT WITHERS THE FRUIT OF THE VINE!
I AM THE CALL OF THE LAST TRUMP!
I AM BECOME DEATH, THE DESTROYER OF WORLDS!!

And yes, that was all totally on the spur of the moment.

November 17, 2009

Well, today sure was eventful. It started out pretty normally, i.e., me rolling out of bed after everybody else was already gone. I took my time and got showered and dressed, then decided to head on down to my father's to check how the Xbox (which I'm still wrestling with, though recent developments have been promising) was working, or even if it was working at all.

Well, halfway there, I get a call from my father telling me to show up at his place so that I could drive him around while he went about his various tasks and chores. It's something he's been doing more recently in a bid to get me more driving experience (Don't need much more, really. Only things I have trouble with are parking and backing out, and him barking at me all the time doesn't exactly help). I commented on how ironic this was, and we left before I even got a chance to test how the Xbox was working. Driving him around took about half an hour or so, I don't remember >_>, before we got back. And then just as I was about to get some sweet sweet gaming time in, he started ragging on me about how I was still a lazy unemployed slob, and how I should get a job, and that I couldn't just play video games all day long (yeah right >_>).

So, being fed up with this **** talking, I got on his computer, looked up Craigslist, and clicked on the first ad that caught my eye. It promised high pay, didn't require any prior experience, and was located nearby, perfect for the poor, never employed, carless me. So I called the number listed in the ad, gave them some information, scheduled myself for an interview at 3:00 P.M., and played games for an hour, having finally satisfied the rage machine that is my father. Around 1:30, I headed back over to my place and took my time getting ready, putting on my nice shirt, pants, and shoes, and shaving a bit.

I got to the office where the interview was being held, and it was a fairly small, sedate place. I was given a form to fill out while I waited with all of the others who were also there for the interviews. I filled it out, gave it back to the man who was going to be interviewing me, and waited. Eventually, all of the people who weren't going to be interviewed left, as the forms had been a screening process, and the actual interview was conducted in a group while our interviewer, the sales manager of the branch, gave a presentation about the company, products, the job we would be doing, etc. that went on for about an hour, with him asking questions of all of us and getting answers all the while (mostly from me, it's an old, odd habit of mine that I tend to answer any questions asked, even not of me). After then end, he gave us one more form to fill out and began talking with the prospective employees one on one, or sometimes two on one, in short sessions, mostly depending on who'd finished their forms first. After he was done with all of us, we left, with him promising to call shortly with the selections for who'd gotten jobs. And lo and behold, about 15-20 minutes after I'd left the office and was home, he called and told me that I'd gotten the job!

We-we-we-welcome to the Late Night Shift~

Now all of your people over on the East Coast, you might think that this is just about the time you're getting up. Me, I should still be asleep at the moment. Except I did that about 10...ish. Honestly, I don't sleep early anymore. I just wake up way too fast.

But now to the music. Any requests?

December 14th, 2009

So, today was my final for my Humanities 101 class. I call it the final, but it was really more of a last exam, as it didn't cover anything except what we'd covered between our last exam and this one.

This class has been...an interesting experience for me. I originally took it because it was about the only class I could (and wanted to) take to get credit for my transfer. The bad part? It took place at night. Oh, and the fact that our professor (a middle-aged Asian lady) had a very distinctive Engrish accent. It made the three-hour-long lectures something of a snoozefest for me (a failure of mine which I try to mitigate as much as possible), but I usually managed to wake up in the last half of each class and actually get some information out of it. Oh, and did I mention that class was every Monday? And that every time Monday rolled around, at least two more students had dropped the class? It was the incredibly shrinking class size, and we ended up with only about 8 or so people. It's amazing when you hear all the talk of crowding in colleges these days.

Homework was non-existent, and the infrequent quizzes were entirely multiple-choice, which as you know, is the easiest type of test EVER. But when it came to our exams...well, I have a complex which I make known to most people about how while I like writing stories or things like this, I absolutely cannot stand essays, even if I can write fairly decent ones. Unfortunately for me, the first three exams were entirely essay-based. But I muddled through, and last I checked I had a C. Which was before I took this exam, which I am entirely confident that I aced.

So yeah, just me trying to get all of that down while I can still remember it.

Meh.

~Salty

Some time ago ESH gave you your own board and Salty was banned from anywhere but here I think so I suggested he be restricted to posting on your board for the lulz.

I did find it rather amusing when they **** up the member groups at that time.

IIRC there have been a few boards dedicated to me. None of which positive. >_>

So yeah now that I have a job I should probably be using this to **** about it or something.

Maybe.

Honestly, the only real info that I can give you guys is that I'm currently working as sort of a fledgling webmaster (with options to learn and gain the ability to do a lot of other stuff, such as getting a dealer's liscense) to a small, internet-based used car dealership.

It's kinda surreal.

Aaaaaaand I just got offered the job back because (as I can infer from the situation at where I was working) they weren't able to find anybody else to do it.

Jesus **** my life is insane

Aaaaand I can now say with all confidence that I hate my boss with a burning passion.

Congratulations, world. You've made me like all of these other fuckwads.

So I quit. The pay was just not worth the everything else, especially considering how much of it I wasn't getting.

So I've been playing Custom Robo: Battle Revolution for the GC. Good game. Forgot how much fun it was, and how funny the characters were. Fuckin' Harry.

I never fail to be struck by how absolutely **** up everything from the mind of Go Nagai is. It's like he was a high point for sheer horror and disturbing stuff in manga, and every other mangaka since then (except Miura, of course) has just been trying to reach it.

And now I've realized anything even remotely related to Go Nagai inevitably ends up inhumanly strange.

And now, the Medieval Who, with...

MEDIEVAL SHADES!

VERILYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Whom art thou?
Who whom, Who whom?
Whom art thou?
Who whom, Who whom?
Whom art thou?
Who whom, Who whom?
Whom art thou?
Who whom, Who whom?

Woke I in a portal lowly
An armsman knew my face
Said he, "You can go sleep at home tonight
If you can get up and walk away"

I staggered back to the underground
And the breeze blew back my hair
I remember brawling around the town
And preachin' from my chair

chorus:
Well, whom art thou?
I am most desirous of this knowledge
Tell me, whom art thou?
For I am much desirous of this knowledge

Rode I my steed back out of town
Back to my local inn
I felt a little like a dying clown
With a streak of Rin Tin Tin

I scratched low and I farted
And looked back on my busy day
Eleven hours in a tin can
Good Lord let there be another way

Whom art thou?
Ooh wa ooh wa ooh wa ooh wa ...

Whom art thou?
Who whom, Who whom?
Whom art thou?
Who whom, Who whom?
Whom art thou?
Who whom, Who whom?
Whom art thou?
Who whom, Who whom?

(chorus)

Once ground knew your touch
Wherein love rains from the trees
Mine heart be as a broken cup
I fell down on my knees

I am ejected from the bowels of the earth
Yet still recieve your kiss
How can I match the measure of a man
After such a love as this?

(chorus)
