Title: Robot Hive/Exodus
Post by: ganonfloyd on 24 June, 2009, 05:28:12 pm
Woo. Not sure if I'll update this daily or not. Whatever.

I've been working a lot more then ever lately. Its still not a lot compared to other people I know, but its more than I've ever had, so I'm kind of cool with that. As long as I get my money, I'm fine with doing the fairly simple tasks that both my jobs hand out to me on a regular basis. One of them is almost free money, considering the amount of work I do while I'm on the job.

Other than working, I've been playing a lot more games recently with all my free time. Right now, I'm obsessing over the incoming BlazBlue and playing the new Fallout DLC, Point Lookout, as well as Broken Steel (which I just now bought). I'd say Point Lookout is the best DLC for the game, its very atmospheric, pretty challenging, and overall more of what made me love the game in the first place.

That's it for now. Riveting stuff.

Now someone help me think of a catchy name.

And as for a topic title, " Floyd's Pit(t) (>_>) of Despair"?

lol v-13.

On topic, I have a wedding to go to on Saturday (as I said in Salty's topic). My cousin wants me to do a reading there. I'm not sure whether I should be angry at him for making me read in front of a family I don't know (and I will invariably have people at the reception tell me I did a good job, which I hate.... I hate getting compliments like that), or be happy because its  asign of how much my cousin likes and respects me.

woo post time.

So my cousin's wedding was today. My cousin is two years older than me, and even though we live almost two hours away, we're pretty close. I guess that's why he asked me to do a reading (other than the fact that I read at my church and stuff), since the girl who read before me was a cousin to the bride.

The ride up was sorta bad. Traffic and such, you know. But my other cousin drove us, so we got to stop at Chic-Fil-A beforehand, as well as listen to Tool and Black Sabbath albums on the way up, which made me smile with delight. The wedding ceremony was twenty five minutes long. It was awesome. Everything went smooth and without any problems.

Then the reception came... ugh.

Everything was running late there, so we didn't eat until like two hours after we should have. Food was good, but the music made me weep. Then we had to take a ton of pictures and do stuff that I don't like before I was to leave with my dad and some relatives, including my great aunt who's bathroom problems caused us to pull over at a hosptial for like 45 minutes. I feel bad for her, but other than that she's in good shape in life.

So yeah, I'm tired. Three of days of work are gonna be awesome after today.

Title: Re: Hotel Ganonfloyd
Post by: Fuuka Yamagishi on 27 June, 2009, 10:20:24 pm
Sounds like a busy day.

I hate how you have to wait to eat until they're done taking pictures... Especially when it takes two hours like you said...

Although it is awesome when they leave the reception in a helicopter, as one couple I knew did.

Title: Re: Hotel Ganonfloyd
Post by: ganonfloyd on 27 June, 2009, 10:28:10 pm
They did not to that <_<

It would be awesome if they did, but alas.

Although I forgot to mention and feel like an ass for doing so, but the best part of the day was the best man's speech at the reception. He started out by quoting Bill Pullman's big speech from Independence Day (one of his and my cousin's favorite movies) verbatim, and everyone was really confused except me and my other older cousin.

Vacation post time. I'm in North Wildwood, woo.

Day 1

Mostly just a transit day. I was not, however, informed that another group of family members would be at the house for the next two nights until we arrived ther,e which irked me since I woukd have to share a couch bed with my brother. Didn't do a whole lot this day, just hung around with relatives and watched Terminator 2 before going to bed.

Day 2

I forgot that this was the 4th of July until I was walking on the boardwalk and noticed them playing the National Anthem. I walked the entire boardwalk and back for the first time. Not exactly sure why. However, this trip to the boardwalk saddened me. It's a shell of what it used to be. The arcades of only a few summers ago were filled wuth excellent games for me to waste my precious quarters in, but those summers are gone. My dad says its just because I'm growing older, but this isn't the case. There's no more arcade games anymore, its all casino games for the elderly to play and win tickets for thier useless novelty toys. I was prepared for this, having been down the shore earlier in the year, but not every arcade was open. I had hoped one of them would have a good fighter like they used to, but none did. Even my last hope, the arcade that had Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 but one summer ago, had betrayed me. I left the boardwalk that day sunburnt and beaten. However, I felt restored later by playing BlazBlue and from getting a text from a friend, asking if I wanted to go see Foreigner and Blue Oyster Cult in concert with free wings in Octoboer. The rest of the day involved reminiscing with my cousin. She's the same age as myself and currently going through some pregnancy induced insanity, so she was not her normal teenage girl self but was very friendly. The two of us used to be very good friends in the early days of our life, so having this time to rekindle the bond we once had was a good thing. We talked about dinosaur movies and preschool days for awhile before the whole family went to the beach at night to watch fireworks. Watched Kill Bill Vol 1 and went to sleep.

Day 3

Today was busier than the other days. Woke up and went early for the customary church/breakfast combo with my grandma. Next was another trip the boardwalk with my dad. We went to a small aquarium on the boardwalk like we always do. Usually we're the only ones there, it feels almost like its our own. It was packed today but still awesome. The monkeys always freak out when my dad looks at them, and the alligators are as large and powerful looking as ever. After that, we took my cousin's advice and went on this 4-D ride thing they had at the boardwalk. However, it was a hastle getting on. It took forever for them to find change, and when we sat down to watch the ride, we we're given the boring undersea one rather than the dinosaur one we requested. However, the guy who ran it was cool and let us have a free ride with the dinosaur one. It was incredibly cheap and cheesy as I expected, and we loved every minute of it. We returned home to talk to some friends of the family before relaxing for awhile. We all had delicious seafood for dinner, then went out for some ice cream with the friends we saw earlier in the day. Made plans to see my **** best friend from high school tomorrow night when he's done work. Watching Kill Bill Vol. 2 now. Poor Budd, I liked him a lot. Not as cool as Bill, but he's still awesome. I completely forgot that they use "The Trio" at one point in the movie. I love Ennio Morricone.

Continuation of Vacation Post

Day 4

Got up early again and got breakfast with whole family. It was good, but I was mad that it was ten dollars less than what I payed and there were two more people with us. Went home and fell asleep. A lot. For several hours. Not sure why, I guess I was tired. I woke up and finally saw The Wrestler, which was a beautiful ****ing movie and Mickey Rourke should have won every acting award possible. After eating a delicious dinner, I went over my good friend from high school's house for stay for a night. We played Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero World Tour and Guitar Hero Metallica for hours before he went to bed. I watched some TV before following him to the land of sleep.

Day 5

Woke up and had a good breakfast. My friend's mom is a great person and she loves to spoil me with grapes and Trix and Mike and Ikes when I'm over. My friend woke up and we continued our music game craze for several hours before playing some Brawl. He didn't have a Gamecube controller and I'm not too familiar with the Wiimote style of controls so I didn't do too good, except for a Mario vs. Shiek match (we both picked random) that ended in an awesome way in my favor. We watched Walk Hard while we waited for my parents to tell us to leave the house, and when they did we meet them at Famous Dave's. Had an awesome dinner, left with my parents to return home and end the vacation. Even though it was short, I'd say it was the best one I've had in awhile, lot of time with friends, family, and movies.

Magnificent indeed.

*update time*

I had this weird dream the other night. It was the first time I had a dream in a really long time that I could actually remember. It was so clear that when I woke up I actually thought it was the plot of a movie I had heard about recently until I realized I've never seen any movie with the exact plot and aesthetics (which I obviously can't really convey in a post) that the dream had. I was in the mall and I left to get my car, but it was covered in tree branches (I had parked near the woods which aren't actually near the mall in real life for some reason). This guy my age was there, watching me clear the branches off my car, telling me to clean up his home. I can't rememebr all the dtails, but I think he was like my evil twin or somthing. When I drove away after talking to him for awhile, I checked my idea and my nam had changed. That was it.

My best friend, who currently lives in North Carolina, came up to Jersey like he always does for a week. I got to hang out with him for awhile. Its always good to see him, we're really close friends. We played a lot of multiplayer games and such as is customary, such as Perfect Dark, Halo, Brawl, etc. There's also an arcade at the mall we go to, it has MvC2, Tekken 4, Tag and 5, and the Simpsons arcade game. I pretty happy because the last time we played MvC2 he was a little better than I was, but this time I won 3/4 games, with my losing team being an experiment against his constant team, and it wasn't as bad as I thought. Tekken 5 was 1/3, I'm not too good at Tekken games sadly whreas he is, but I did manage to land a Phoenix Smasher right to the gut to beat him one time. It was awesome. And the other matches were close, I just usually can't beat my friend when he's Dragunov, even with my boy Paul. I'm in a big Tekken mood now since I also bought Tekken 3 for PS1 at a used VG store near my house for 8 bucks. My friend got an awesome haul at the place (Earthworm Jim for Genesis, Soul Reaver and Furr Fighters on DC, all for 25 bucks).

We went and saw Bruno after that. Good movie, albeit very cringe inducing. There's so great scenes, but as a whole I'd say I liked Borat more.

Worked after that. It sucked.

Some life updates if anyone cares.

-The Wall may have overtaken The Darkside of the Moon as my favorite album ever. Listening to it as one piece of music rather than a collection of songs is almost becoming a religious experience for me, I love it so much.

-Playing Aria of Sorrow again, remembering why its my favorite GBA game.

-Counting down the days until Green Day.

-I've become addicted to barbeque ribs. My mom makes damn good ribs.

I went to the second day of the All Points West music festival at Liberty State Park the other day with my friends. Tool headlined and they were just as phenominal this time as they were the first time I saw them, almost two years ago. Th other acts were all interesting and fine. The mud though.... my shoes were literally submerged in mud at one point. But regardless, it was well worth it to here Maynard say "You don't want to **** with Jersey, unless you want your ass kicked". Now if you'll xcuse me, I'm going to go bathe whil listening to the intro of "Flood" over and over again.

Some Updates

-Went to see the Eagles of Death Metal last night. I'm not a fan, but my friend loves them and bought all the tickets for use, so I went along. However, we had to go on a Journey before we could see them. First a drive through Philly traffic, then waiting at my school's library for our fourth travelling partner. We took a subway train as far as we could then walked to our destination. We made it for three songs and an encore, but the band had a ton of energy, they played some of the few songs I like from them, my friend got his T-Shirt (which I really liked), AND I was in the presence of Dave Catching, one of the most awesome desert rock musicians ever. He looked like Sloth from The Goonies.

-Afterwards, we returned to my friends house after a Wawa/Porcupine Tree break. Both my friends play the newer Pokemon games, so they did a trade that they had in planning for awhile. Unbeknowst to one party, the Scyther he recieved was named something that I probably can't post here, least I break TOS/gey yelled at for, and his reaction was completely priceless.

-Before going to bed we read up on some TVTrope articles that contained "Queens of the Stone Age" in them before reading the Nightmare Fuel sections of Pokemon and Zelda. This has inspired me to replay the 3D Zelda's, which I will begin sometim today before work.

-Bullitt was awesome.

-So is Fahrenheit 451.

-I'm going to actually finish watching Outlaw Star, then probably start watching Trigun because I read about it and it sounds ****ing awesome.

-I'm going to be taking a break from the site for a few days. Probably until the 14th to see if random comes back on so I can talk to him. I feel like I'm angry at almost every user here for some reason, and I'm nnot sure if its shown in my posts yet, but I'd like to keep it from doing so, so some time away will probably help. I might lurk abit every now and then until then.

Later.

NAME CHANGE AND BUMP

So I bought Dragon Age: Origins over the weekend and its fun. I can't decide where it ranks on my Bioware console game (my PC would certainly not run it even though its evidently much superior to the console <_<) list yet buy we'll see.

I'm seeing Cedric Yardborough and Carlos Alazraqui on Friday. They're doing a comedy show like Kenan Thompson did last year, and I'm pumped because I love Reno 911, and Carlos is the voice of Rocko.

Camping on Saturday. I love camping and this should be awesome since I haven't camped in awhile. But it might rain then which would ruin everything because there must be a fire.

Them Crooked Vultures' album comes out on the 17. It will be awesome.

I have to register for classes on the 12th, and I sent out 14 job interviews tonight for my school's co-op program. I'm nervous, to be honest.

So yeah, that's about it.

So since my friends had their break/are in other states, the next nine days will consist of me sitting at home, watching TV and playing video games.

Games I will Attempt to Finish During This Break

Bioshcok 2
Paper Mario
Perfect Dark
Legacy of Kain: Defiance
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

I will also borrow either Dragon Age: Origins Awakening or FFXIII from work at some point (gonna wait a bit to see if my store gets any used copies of DA: OA.)

And then started Derper than DERP

Also, why do you have Spring Break now? Doesn't it begin the 29th?

I'm trying to think which is more appropriate for what though...

I think for more sentimental things (like when my dad gave me his old trench coat; awards given during ceremonies), I hear the Metroid music. For stuff that is has practical application/awesome function, I hear the Zelda fanfare. When I get something that I need more and more of, I hear the Mario music.

So yeah.

2010 in gaming is being good to me, at least from an aesthetic stand point. I was thinking about it and I just noticed how many aesthetics/themes are being represented by games, whether good, bad or average. Distopia/nuclear wasteland (New Vegas, Metro 2033 and arguably Bioshock 2 for the first part), westerns (Red Dead Redemption), pseudo-westerns (Red Steel 2) and now dinosaur themed (Primal Carnage), etc.

War Bears, conscripts and war blimps are good enough for me (will probably main Soviets if I get it).

Also I can't tell completely from the demo, but I may be in love with the Russian briefing chick >_>

Title: Re: Welcome to Sky Valley
Post by: Fuuka Yamagishi on 20 April, 2010, 09:38:50 am
Don't blame ya

Soviets are probably the easiest and most fun to play as. The Empire is difficult, but makes you feel the kind of nerd-love that... My sentence ran out.

The Allies are pretty much just lame.

Title: Re: Welcome to Sky Valley
Post by: ganonfloyd on 20 April, 2010, 09:42:12 am
Plus she's an actual human being so I can fell less like a nerd <_<

I usually just pick races by coolness rather than ease of play (for instance, in Starcraft I use the Zeg and I'm atrocious with them). And the Soviets have the coolest units I feel (Allies and Rising Sun are tied after, both seem cool).

...Did I mention my copy of RA3 came with a poster of all the girls from the game in one picture? >_>

Yeah, I get what you mean. Looks-wise I think the Empire edges out the Soviets, but I'm much better as the Soviets. I don't play as the Allies much but I can win as them. Plus their aircraft carriers are killer.

The boss rush is still pretty damn easy on any difficulty. It's Fire Leo who's the main problem, considering on Ultra V-Rated mode you don't get warnings, plus the damage multiplier has increased so much that most of his attacks are an instant KO.

Iron Man was considerably awesome. I only wish that the final fight wasn't so one-sided. Why is it that so many final battles in American movies gimp/injure the hero? can't they have a straight up, one-on-one fight where the villain and the hero are at equal health/skill level (like in the Bourne Ultimatum; that was a spectacular fight between Bourne and Desh)?

I totally agree. I can't really remember much of it since I haven't seen it in ages, but I do remember it nearly being a curb stomp battle for most of the fight. I'd rather see two people trading blows powerful enough to make cars explode and destroy half the environment around them with little concern for anything besides each other.

English. I've already taken some classes for it for electives, up to nine credits for it (out of 24) count for my major, and I always do very well in English.

Might aslo switch my major from Environmental Sciences to Biological Sciences- Ecology/Evolutionary Biology/Paleobilogy Concentration since it sounds cooler, I get more free electives, and is more Paleo based.

WRIT  306 - Writing About the Media
This course teaches students how to write about media events and artifacts (books, movies, theatre, music, etc.), both as individual works and in a larger cultural context. It also teaches them about the kinds of media outlets which publish reviews and the style of writing these outlets favor.

Damn, he's 94? That's crazy.

There must be someone. Thankfully my final exam isn't cumulative and its based on two concepts that are almost mirror opposites of teach other, so I should be able to get a good grade to counter the atrocities that were my previous grades.

Also I can't post the song this topic is named after now since its like 20 minutes long but

Final Summer Schedule

Dystopian Literature and Film
Technology from a Historical Prospective
Mythology
Technical Communication
Principles of Cell Biology

I need to boost my GPA thus summer and Organic Chem II will just hurt that.

Man, I can't wait for Summer, but then again I only got two weeks left on my course to get merits and distnctions in most of my work (and I'm about halfway there, but its only because I'm quite lazy when I'm not working) so I gotta get off my fatass and go Samuel L. Jackson on that ****.

So for my mythology class I get to write a paper about The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, comparing it to a mythic tale, and I might get my teacher in Dystopian Literature to let us watch/me do a paper on Escape from New York.
