Title: IngSlayer's Second Shot
Post by: IngSlayer on 17 April, 2010, 07:32:45 pm
Second time I'm making one of these topics here...

This time around, I am only posting my better drawings rather than a bunch of scrap material and photographs.

I use a digital camera to upload any and all pictures as of now. I can't get my scanner to work and can't be bothered to try and fix the problem, but I heard that scanners ruin the coloring on drawings anyway.

First off, and the only one for now, an anthro:

This was done three months ago, during that record breaking blizzard. I decided to give this a grayscale coloring since I am not very skilled with coloring pencils, and I did not want to ruin this sketch.

Oh man, memories.

Nicely done drawing too.

If you like the look of that kinda thing, may I suggest digitally tinting it? Rather than colouring it.

But she's nice.

No.

...It was only a suggestion.

I just don't feel motivated to color/shade images digitally; it feels too complex to learn.

aww, she cute

Now draw her with ducking behind cover, dodging gunfire and clutching a shotgun, afraid, yet determined

You've gotten alot better since then, I think Hawk might've been suggesting just to lighten the brightness up a little bit or something. But I dunno.

Tinting is changing the colour without changing the texture. It'd still look hand drawn. My avi is a re-tinted Falco Lombardi.

Working on new drawings recently?

I'm still not entirely sold on digital coloring, but that's nice to take note of.

I have been experimenting a little, but I haven't made anything worth showing off. I do have a few good ideas in mind.

*nods* I plan to do it to one of Shino's drawings.

Four months later...

I have ideas. Lots of ideas. I try to put them on paper.

The results:

- Whatever I'm drawing is left hanging at the stick figure guide
- It doesn't come out the way I want it to
- I lose motivation half way through
- I need a model to use but have no idea where to start looking for the right model for half my ideas

The fact that I press down on the pencil too hard doesn't help either.

But:

These came through. I was trying to go for more natural poses than the stiff, stare-into-the-viewer's-soul look. The second is the same image from before, just darkened.

Also:

Experimenting with backgrounds, something I haven't done since ever.

The third one is my favorite. I think casting a shadow on the wall will give the drawing more depth.

Hey.... That second picture looks suspiciously similar....

Also.... You drew every single blade of grass.... It makes a nice pattern.... But you probably don't want that.... Although if you do then you should add more patterns to everything....
