This came as such a huge surprise to me after watching Captain America. I knew there'd be a post-credits scene, but I'd heard nothing about an Avengers trailer.

I just hope this pays off after all the hype and build-up. There are going to be a lot of people at Marvel Studios pissing themselves in the run-up to this movie's release...

I just want to state how much I love Thor.

Captain America: *insults Iron Man*

Iron Man: *Makes witty comeback*

Thor: *Is amused*

Loki: I have an army.

Stark: We have a Hulk.

Once again, Stark steals the show. I'm starting to get the impression that he's going to get all the best lines.

The reviews haven't lied. This movie is brilliant.

Now let's see you do it again, Marvel. You've made your bed, now lie in it. >_>

The combination of the writing and Mark Ruffalo's acting actually makes me like Banner/Hulk. The only other time that's happened is Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Oh and, somewhat predictably, there's a post-credits scene.

Going midnight release for my theater. I already got the end scene spoiled but that's it.

Rather pumped.

So what's the post credits scene?

The aliens Loki's allied with? They're ruled by Thanos. And thanks to the Avengers, it looks like he's taking an interest in Earth.

This guy. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanos) I don't really know much about him beyond him being a major Avengers villain.

Well, we won't have to worry about it for a while. There's Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Captain America 2 to go first. Plus whatever other films Marvel decides to throw in.

Blah blah blah

Thanos isn't even an Avengers villian. If we're getting him as a villain in the next movie, it'll be about...like, Adam Strange and all those cosmic heroes.

Title: Re: The Avengers Movie
Post by: ganonfloyd on 29 April, 2012, 06:51:36 pm
Until the Ant-man movie gets made, they can't actually use the best Avengers villain, sadly. Kang would be really cool though.

And fucking right cosmic heroes. Marvel cosmic is amazing. And its Adam Warlock, Adam Strange is DC.

Title: Re: The Avengers Movie
Post by: Gargravarr on 29 April, 2012, 07:04:35 pm
There's no reason Thanos can't be an Avengers villain, though. It wouldn't be the first time these movies have changed stuff about the villains. Like having Ivan Vanko as Whiplash instead of Crimson Dynamo.

Except the whole infinity gauntlet thing is kinda out of their league.

They might not use the Infinity Gauntlet. Or simply tweak it a bit to make it more manageable, like they did with the Tesseract/Cosmic Cube. That can warp reality in the comics, but in the movies it's just been shown as a power source so far.

Whatever happens, we won't know until the post-credits scene of the first in the second wave of movies at the very earliest.

Considering they've already shown it once, and now they've mentioned Thanos...

You'd be surprised what wizard comics can do. It's like each and every one is a little movie all by itself.

Its a prop in Odin's treasure room in Thor (where the Casket of Ancient Winters is held).

Title: Re: The Avengers Movie
Post by: Gargravarr on 30 April, 2012, 02:03:05 pm
Oh right.

Well my second point still stands. There was a big difference in power between the Tesseract/Cosmic Cube in the comics and the one in the movies (so far at least), so maybe the same will be true of the Infinity Gauntlet. If indeed it does get used and wasn't just a cameo to please fans.

I know, right? Except for Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, this is the first version of Banner/Hulk that I've actually liked in any medium. I'm torn between him randomly punching Thor out of the shot and suddenly flinging Loki around like toy for my favourite moment of his. And Tom Hiddleston continues to make a fantastic Loki. His face after being "interrupted" by the Hulk is priceless.

My only disappointment, as I don't really care about Maria Hill not getting much to do, was Coulson's death. Although I wouldn't be at all surprised if it turned out Fury lied about that too.

Guess I have to see this.

What other Marvel movies tied into this one? There's Iron Man, Thor, Captain America... and what else?

Title: Re: The Avengers Movie
Post by: Gargravarr on 04 May, 2012, 02:19:58 pm
Iron Man 2 and The Incredible Hulk. Although the latter's only real connection is a cameo from Tony Stark in a post-credits scene.

Damn... I almost forgot Maria Hill was in this.... Oh well....

They balanced the six members well though.... Tony Stark kinda steals the spotlight a lot.... But that's only really because he's Ironman.... Hawkeye got the most screwed but he made up for it in the end....

I have to say, I thought Hiddleston was good in Thor. He fucking killed it in this movie. Perfect Loki screen transition.

The balance really impressed me. I could have used a bit more Thor, but what he gets is awesome (fighting Hulk, lightning the two metal worm things, Hulk punch, etc).

Like her or dislike her?

I was a little concerned the movie would end up basically being "Iron Man and Friends", but I was glad to see they managed to sidestep it. Mostly. Also, putting on the new armour while falling was fucking ridiculous in the best possible way. It was also good to see each character (or most of them) getting at least a couple of great one-liners, so RDJr didn't hog them all.

I just saw it. Goddamn amazing. Downey was, as always, the best actor...besides Sammy Boy. Enjoyed Thor and Loki (great acting by that guy), and Ruffalo/Hulk got the best lines in the film. Puny god indeed. Sadly, Cap just didn't stand out much besides his short thing with Thor and those acrobatics on ship. Maybe they should change his name to Captain Parkour. Writing was snappy, action was actiony and well choreographed, and, of course, the effects were amazing.

...

Gotta say, though. Didn't really feel BW and Hawky much, except for the scene where she's interrogating Loki. Also, seeing Tony Stark failing basic physics was amusing. And finally, that...person. Fury's underling. Underwhelming. Not Coulson. The other one.

That post-credits scene, though. "To court Death" indeed. I can see why Thanos is interested.

Title: Re: The Avengers Movie
Post by: Gargravarr on 10 May, 2012, 07:16:28 am
I reckon Maria Hill might have just been included in this film to set her up for more prominent appearances later on. If Coulson really has died, then she'll probably take over his role in the movies.

Finally got around to seeing this movie. It was as amazing as ever....though I felt Thor could have done more during the city battle at the end.

That battle could have been half the film and still would have worked.

Thor only used his lightning powers a couple of times in his own movie too. Maybe they just don't want him to seem too far above the other Avengers, like how they've yet to mantion that the Hulk's strength is basically limitless if he's angry enough.

Title: Re: The Avengers Movie
Post by: ganonfloyd on 17 June, 2012, 11:01:35 am
Thor could have Godblasted the entire army out and **** but then there wouldn't be the last third of the movie. Its like in the comics when he says he goes 1/3rd against mortals at all times because he doesn't want to crush their skulls in.
