Title: General Wii U Topic
Post by: Gargravarr on 16 September, 2012, 10:01:55 am
Release dates and tentative prices were releasd a few days ago.

There will apparently be two versions: a white "Basic" pack and a black "Premium" pack.

Nintendo say it's up to individual UK retailers to set their own prices, though.

You'd best wait this one out.... No good launch games and it'll probably have a slow start due to that.... Which means it could be like the 3DS and the price will drop....

Not until 2013, though.

My girlfriend and I have already pre-ordered the Premium bundle. Going to pay a little bit each paycheck from now until November 18th so we aren't paying the whole $350 at once.

Must. Have. Scribblenauts. Unlimited.
Also looking forward to New Super Mario Bros. U, Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper, Epic Mickey 2, Darksiders 2.

More gimmicks from Nintendo is pretty much all I see.

Announce F-Zero with a good developer and I'll hope on board.

There's an F-Zero game in Nintendo Land, so there may be hope yet.

Is it weird that one of the main things that sprang to mind was "I wonder if they'll incorporate the Tingle Tuner onto the gamepad"? Another was "Good lord those screenshots are bright..."

There's much intrigue in that video, though. I just hope that Nintendo don't half-ass Mario Kart U/8 like Mario Kart 7, and that they don't try to force too much multiplayer into Zelda Wii U.

And 3D Yarn Yoshi makes that game look a bit like a fusion of Epic Yarn, Yoshi's Island and LittleBigPlanet.

This is only natural based on what I've been playing lately, but the way Aonuma talked about redefining the Zelda concepts made me think of a Zelda Dark Souls style game. Obviously a direct carbon copy probably wouldn't happen (they'll never make a Zelda game that hard), but the posited ideas of multiplayer and less linear dungeon progress give me this idea of Link in an open world similar to Lordran. If they could incorporate multiplayer in a similar way to Demon's/Dark, it wouldn't ruin the single player aspect people generally seem to want from the series but would also be something that redefines Zelda.

This will never happen but I can dream.

Fire Emblem / Shin Megami Tensei crossover?

Not gonna lie, didn't really expect something like that

what. What is this. Where is this. I need this. I need it now. NOW, YOU HEAR ME?!

Also, I'm betting that the MP experience for the new Zelda is going to involve the gamepad, and probably will bear resemblance to the MP from SMG.

Just go watch Iwata tell you how awesome the Wii U is gonna be for half an hour and come back covered in jizz....

Seriously that was some awesome stuff he just showed....

Only in few days after getting a Wii U I now know I made the right choice....

Makes me think of the original LoZ

So apparently NSMBU is getting DLC this year that allows you to play as Luigi and play all-new courses.
