http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/05/sega_sammys_pro.htmlThis was from a while ago, but I'd like the bring this up anyways. It was stated somewhere on 1UP (can't find the article) that Sega has a 50/50 chance of being completely gone because of financial problems, or staying together by December. Well, it's now the middle of December. So..if Sega fails, what'll happen to Sonic? Will he die out? Or will someone buy him? I swear, if Sega does fail, and someone wants Sonic, it'd better be Nintendo. >_>

Because while they admit they had less money than other companies before, to be fair, they were comparing themselves to first party companies. Their games sell well enough despite their past losses to keep them afloat, and they withdrew the Dreamcast to avoid losing too much money from it. Even their bad games tend to sell alright, except Sonic 360. And I'm not just talking about Sonic here when I talk about SEGA, they still have servers up for Phantasy Star Whatever with lots of people on them.
Besides, the normal answer to anything from 1up is usually "lol1up"

Nintendo won't buy SEGA, because no matter how crappy SEGA's games become Sonic's fanboys will continue to buy them.

im not sure i think a few people have lost faith and i think if the games continue badly then they will lose fanboys, although look at the ps3 sony fanboys have still baught that yet its utter rubbish so they may well continue to by the sonic games if they get unplaybly bad (ie sonic 360)

Or how about the superior suggestion of starting over from SA1? Back when the stages didn't look like San Fransisco. This is excluding the Adventure stages, of course <_<
