You gotta admit, he was cool back when Kishimoto actually tried to give him character development, like in the forest of death where he states that he'll never let any of his friends die again. In Naruto, only the side characters are likeable.

Yeah, but it's also official that Akatsuki members never die until they lose the cloak. I mean, Naruto actually got to be the main character during the rescue Gaara arc and fought Deidara...but Deidara survived! It's because he didn't lose his cloak. If I was fighting an Akatsuki member, I would go for the cloak first. I now have a great interest in Deidara's tricks...
