It's interesting that while we're liking large fights and character developments of most of the characters, from Sakura to Tobi and all the others, no-one appears to like even the appearance of Sasuke anywhere.

That's because he's not a very good character IMO.
Kishimoto completely ignores the awesome characters, like Lee, Neji, Hinata and the like, and chooses to focus on an emo crybaby like Sasuke. "Boo hoo, I needz to keel mah brother, boo hoo".
Sasuke was cool back during the chuunin exams, because he actually showed CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT there. He was heading away from the emo, cold kid, and was becoming more of a caring person, who wouldn't let his friends die no matter what.
Then it just went downhill from there... Nearly killing Naruto because he needed to go to Orochimaru the ****'s place. Emo kid.
Plus, he NEVER LOSES. Jesus Christ, Naruto who's the main character has lost more than sasuke. I mean, in the manga lately, Sasuke always manages to counter the opponents mega-ultra-instant kill jutsu in stupid ways. I swear, it's like when you RP a fight, and you go:
You: *Having restrained you, I dropkick your face so much it shatters*
Me: *Dodges because I'm awesome*
It's like that. The way he dodges those mega-ulra-instant kill jutsus look like Kishimoto came up with them on the spot. "Oh, I don't want my kawaii Sasuke-kun dead, so I'll have him dodge it =D"
*Cough*
Sorry about that, but that's what I think.

Sounds about right.
I agree with the character development and the orochimaru bit entirely.
Besides, I want to see more of Shino, Kiba and Hinata. THey get the least air time of the lot.
