Read it, don't watch it. The anime only covers the first few arcs before throwing in its own events in the last 3 episodes, which aren't really good. Negima?! on the other hand, wouldn't be too bad to watch as its different from the manga, just as long as you value fighting scenes and comedy above fanservice.

Anime is 26(?) episodes, and America currently has 18 (172 chapters?) of the 21 released volumes. Negima! hasn't been updated in a while (It's still on-going), and Del Ray hasn't been translating them in a while.
