A friend of mine on MSN changed his name to "GUITAR HERO: METALLICA ANNOUNCED!" and just logged in and out again and again, pretty much yelling it to everyone online on his buddy list. Then I google searched for it to see if he wasn't lying. <_< |

If you have a video game after yourself or largely based off of yourself, you've all but sold out. If you like spamming video games looking only after money than quality, you've all but sold out. It can be said that Neversoft has killed Guitar Hero.
Also, I so remember that Metallica racing game being announced in 2004.

I like to joke around with the concept of selling out, though I can't help but look down at low-budget attempts to make a quick buck off of name alone.

I see what you mean, although as long as this game has a good amount of Metallica songs (which it will) and some good bands they are influenced by/enjoy, it should be a good buy. The Misfits/Danzig will almost certainly be on there. I expect Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Mercyful Fate, Venom, Diamond Head, Motorhead, etc. as well. Maybe even some of the other Big Thrash Four. |

Though Neversoft seems to like spamming the same formula over and over again with Guitar Hero, like they did with Tony Hawk. The only thing that attracts others is the music in it, but I feel as if a game is simply not a game when the music is above gameplay. This is my opinion, but whenever I've gone to my friend's house, and whenever he invited me to play Guitar Hero, I never felt more bored with a game in my life.
Not to mention that Neversoft overprices these damn things for the same content other than music, a concept that I don't like.

It boils down to whether you enjoy the gameplay and the music in it. I love both, so its a definite win for me.
you are right though, they are overpriced.
And regardless of the series direction now, THPS 2 will always be the greatest sports game ever.
