I'm going to be honest with you here, man. It's the best writing Kubo's done in a long, long time.

...Just give it a couple weeks.
Kubo's strongest point has always been creating interesting powers and abilities, though.

Taking the series as a whole (not just the last arc or so), there are more interesting abilities between the various shinigami and hollows/arrancar than there are truly boring ones. Trouble is that two of the most boring ones belonged to Aizen and Ichigo and therefore got a lot of focus... I'm not sure Tosen really fits into your argument, either. As annoying as I found the character, and as lame as his hollow form was, I thought his zanpakuto was pretty cool.

Honestly, anybody can come up with interesting powers. It's how you incorporate them into the story that really counts, and he hasn't done that at all. Sooner or later, he exhausts all of his available "kais" that aren't to be used for foreshadowing, and then he has to rely on stupid powers like Ichigo won with.
Also the Hogyoku.

Meh, I've never really had a problem with Kubo's writing. The only part that's really annoyed me so far were the last 30-40 chapters before this time skip, from when Aizen himself properly entered the fighting. Right now I'm trying to focus on the positive stuff, which for me is still most of the series.
He's going to have to work pretty hard for Bleach to earn back its position of being my favourite manga, though. Especially since one of the series it's up against is One Piece, which has been so consistently good that I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out that Oda had made a deal with the Devil or something.

Yeah, incorporating powers into the plot is pretty important. Its a staple to the story in a few things I work on in my free time.
What makes the way Ichigo won unacceptable? Just curious.

Well for one thing, it was pretty much out of nowhere, completely unforeshadowed until they had the whole "HERP DERP SPIRITUAL HYPERBOLIC TIME CHAMBER HERP DERP" thing. And then it takes the form of some incredibly vague powerup that lets him "Become GETSUGA!!!!!!!1!111!ONE" And even though we get this crappy powerup that is little more than Deus ex Machina personified, he still doesn't end Aizen and we find out that the thing that finally ends up beating Aizen is some crappy plan that relied more upon luck than any actual strategic thinking by Urahara. Honestly, I expected to see somebody shop Urahara going "just as planned" by now.

I wouldnt say it was out of nowhere. It was pretty safe to assume that Ichigo couldnt beat Aizen without learning something new, or atleast pull what he did on Ulq and more. There was no foreshadowing that pointed out what the new thing could have been, though. The power up was pretty vague, but I think Kubo ran out of time, as he has cut other things out of the manga before. I believe I read somewhere that Harribel's flashback in the anime adaption was canon...
I don't remember that part in full detail, but I think Ichigo's Mugetsu technique is what caused Aizen to weaken enough for that spell to take effect. Or rather, the attack caused enough damage to Aizen so that the Hogyoku realized it no longer wanted to serve him, so in turn took what power was left after the hit, which finally let the spell surface. Mugetsu was the start of a chain reaction, so in that perspective it was Ichigo who defeated Aizen
In all honesty, I dont think that battle was planned, or Kubo just wants Aizen on the back burner for an extra arc to keep his lights on.

Kubo should make a living writing comedy manga. Instead of his half-assed drama.

Finally, something's actually happening. These last few chapters have been fun, but It's nice to see the storyline starting to pick up again.
