Not this time.
Apparently there are these fake bodes called Reigai (Soul Society's version of a Gigai) that were created in the likeness of existing Shinigami. Something similar to the concept Soul Candy was also created for those bodes so that they function just like the person they're supposed to be.
Its confusing, because its hinted that a few characters could be fakes, but its too early to tell for sure.

Sounds interesting, though I can't help being reminded of Secret Invasion, if only because it's about established characters being replaced by copies. It doesn't help that I've been on a bit of a Marvel binge recently either...
