Doc: well there are duplicates right now... i actually numbered the cards for me own sanity, so like 1-9 are all "attack", but the art is different on different cards, like a sword chop or a big boot.
so that touches on my energy idea, having each card able to act as "land" instead of their action. let me see if i can explain this...
row layout: (like the fold up maps)
front row: [action slot] [set slot] [set slot2] [character slot] [discard] second row; [mana slot] [mana slot2] [mana slot 3] [mana slot 4] [ deck]
so you put an action each turn, can set 2 cards, and if i/we ca find a way to do it, have 4 possible mana/energy/land spots to work with. i figure they will divide into all the forth stats we use (reflex, mana, rage, power. [or to color code green, blue, red, yellow, and maybe a white one thats misc.]).
my current idea is that you can make 1 card "land" per turn, and they serve as the required stuff for stronger cards like GmBs or specials, or just high damage basic actions. you don't discard your land though, unless there are certain cards that require it as a side effect or an enemy card that forces you to.
hows this sound so far?

Considering the decks are premade, if the mana sources don't have an effect by themselves I don't know if there is a need for a distinction between these. However, limiting set actions seems to be a good idea so one doesn't put half his deck down ready to unleash a massive combo

Doc: yeah, i don't think having more than 3 set slots tops would work well(because combos). well, my logic behind different types is more for having non-premade deck stuff.
ex. a blast card called "razor lazer eyes" that wouldn't be in any of the mentioned decks, but since it does 2 points of damage its good for a Lop deck, but it needs a "power" type energy to use, so the players needs at least 1 other power energy type card in their deck as well.
ex. a generic GmB needs 4+ energy total to use and it forces a energy discard after its used, so the player has to prioritize what energy types they need for their other cards, creating possible mindgame tactics.
does this make sense?
____________
so, David any thoughts on this at all?
also, you hear about part 4's air date?

No clue. I know nothing worthwhile on card mechanics. And I know it's coming, dunno when, probably won't watch but am still hyped.

Sorry. Been in a bad place recently.
But no, I am not familiar with the mechanics of card games. I only like card games like Yu-Gi-Oh! for the lore.
Also, Josuke is best JoJo.

Doc: so lets say a CoS card based game existed, no real interest without lore? (not judging, just curious)
also, seriously? yugioh lore is something you like? (it is the pharoh's soul contained in a puzzle, found by a very simila looking kid allows him to be possessed/ commune with the only pharoh who was benevolent to his people, and they solve card puzzle by believing in the great rng?) again, just curious if thats what you're talking about.
i don't really like his hair as a design, but crazy diamond seems cool.

Not sure, to be honest. No no, you misunderstand. I mean the lore behind the cards themselves; look up the story of Gagagigo to get an idea on what I'm talking about. i don't really like his hair as a design

Doc: ok.
oh... well that makes more sense i guess.
to be clear, its not the haircut i have a problem with, but the way iit's drawn in jojo. Ryu is probably myfavorite shaman king character and battleship from bobobo is great, but in jojo the top of his hair looks like a grilled steak...

Hmmmm... grilled steak... Ahem
I didn't even know Yu_Gi-Oh had card lore. I mean, they seems so random. Then again, I didn't play much the game

Most of them don't, as almost all the cards nowadays just have their effect and gameplay description on the card, but you can still soemtimes piece together elements of a story.
