Zelda looked up to see Mario shaking his head in disappointment; he slowly took off his sunglasses to reveal an almost sorrowful gaze. He looked over at the kid, whom Zelda realized was his hired help. The kid nodded; his eyes still hidden by his baseball cap. Mario closed his eyes. Zelda's eyes became fixed upon him as he pushed away his jacket which had been covering his Pokéballs; she noticed the tag on his shirt that read only as "Certified Pokémon Trainer".

Mario's punch knocked every last cubic centimeter of air from her lungs; her body flew across the water flowing through the plaza and into the side of one of the buildings. Mario opened his eyes and smiled. PT was at her in an instant. The sound of three Pokéballs being opened were all that Zelda could hear at the moment. The back of her skull throbbed in pain; she looked at her assassin almost surprised that Mario wasn't going to be the one to finally do her in. She was familiar with the Pokémon; Squirtle, Charizard, Ivysaur. But, these three were different than what she'd seen before; there was a certain aspect of their eyes that struck as horrifying as well as similar to the Pokémon Trainer: There was no mercy in their faces. They all reared back, charging their various attacks. Zelda closed her eyes. The rushing sound of death filled her ears. They were towering above her; their cold faces looking down upon her. The glow of their special attacks cast shadows across their faces. She didn't blame the Pokémon, just their trainer; her killer. She opened her eyes then, deciding then and there that she would make sure her killer would have to look into her eyes as she died.

But her killer was soaring through the air sideways; PT hit the ground and rolled to a halt. In the spot in the air where his face had been a second ago was a gloved white fist. Zelda's jaw dropped; had Mario changed heart? She then realized what was going on just as the Pokémon left her and instinctually rushed to their master; a blue figure stood before her, lowering his fist with which he had just used to deliver a blow to the PT. Her rescuer smiled and winked at her, then disappeared only to reappear in her peripheral vision at about where the PT had landed. Zelda, however, was far less concerned with what just happened than with the figure across the plaza at the open-air restaurant who was now standing and showed no sign of happiness at all. What could only be described as murder was in Mario's eyes; a still grounded Zelda could see it from this great distance away. An explosion erupted from over by the blue figure and the PT.

Mario turned around and walked in the opposite direction as panicked Piantas passed back in forth in front of Zelda who was still up against the building's wall. She stared unblinkingly at Mario's back when suddenly, as a panic stricken Pianta cut in front of her view, he disappeared. Zelda blinked, knowing what was coming. She looked up into the great blue sky to see Mario flying through the air above her. She threw her self to one side as his feet pulverized the tiling on the wall and plaza floor where Zelda had been lying seconds prior. Zelda prepared a Din's Fire spell in her hand as she got up, knowing it would do little good as Mario's silhouette became clearer in the now settling dust. She could see the fireball's glow through the debris hanging in the air.
