His movies were my childhood, essentially.

These clips obviously don't do him justice, because he managed to make plastic models walk and breathe and life, something that few CGI creatures have been able to do (Jurassic Park being the exception, although Cloverfield did a great job as well.)

If I am the only RH fan here (I may very well be) I implore someone to try his movies out if you are a fan of animation or monster movies in general, because his really are the best.

that and Jason and the Argonauts did it for me.

Jason and the Argonauts might be my favorite movie ever, other than Jurassic Park. Those two movies completely influenced my being as a child.

JatA had it all. The scenery was fantastic, the musical score was fantastic. Plus, it has my tow favorite animated moments in movie history, the skeleton fight and any moment Talos is on the screen.

the talos thing was amazing. the first time i saw it i was like 'WOAH! WHAT IS THAT THING!?'

oh, and the flying monsters at the oracle and the hell hounds at the end scared me back then. now i know pure iron and salt will fix that right up.... i'm not crazy, just well informed....

The Harpies were sweet, I love how they beat them.

And there weren't any hellhound sin Jason. There was a two headed dog in Clash, though, is that what you mean?

weren't there dogs before medusa? (as an aside, its been several [over half a decade] years since i've seen either of these movies so it is possible i'm confusing some stuff)

I have both of them (and several other of his movies) on DVD.

Jason has Talos, The Harpies, the Hydra, and the skeletons.

Clash has Pegasus, Calibus (The weird devil guy, he's part animated and part not), the two headed dog before medusa, Medusa, giant scorpions, and the Kraken.

The Seventh Voayge of Sinbad is another one of his classics.

ok, yeah a lot of that was running together for me. then yes, the dog(s?) was before medusa in the Clash. ok. And Jason was about the golden fleece. i remember that. all very good. still think Jason was better though. was that the one with the mechanical owl?

Clash had Bobo (the owl)

And yes, Jason is vastly superior to Clash, and just about any movie ever made (I seriously can't stress how much I love that movie...)

I wish you luck.

I also recommend Seven Voyage of Sinbad and One Million Years BC (the latter has great dinosaur animation and Raquel Welch, possibly the most gorgeous woman ever, in a fur bikini.)

That's the iconic image, but there are better ones... I just don't want to get in trouble because they're a bit much on the hotness side...
