Lol, just make sure you don't burn them. I thought you had to burn them to restore your humanity at first.
Nope.

Floyd is the devil.
I SERIOUSLY DREAMT OF FLOYD BEING A KILLER CYBORG WHO RAN 10 TIMES FASTER THAN ANY NORMAL HUMAN, AND THEN KILLED MM, TURNED FEMALE, WENT AFTER ME, AND I DROPPED FROM THE SKYSCRAPER! IT HURTED, BUT I AWAKE CALMLY, THINKING I WOULDN'T SEE YOU AGAIN.
*no gold, just us*

Damn game, putting a bonfire next to three of those soldiers is mean. Every time I die, I put my controller down for a bit and then suddenly I have half my health left because I forget they're there.
I killed the three sentinels. They weren't too bad, but they did keep me on my toes. Those soldiers beforehand were just awful though. Having 4-5 of them on you at once is hell.

Let's see...
Lost Bastille Heide's Tower of Flame No-man's Wharf Huntsman's Corpse Harvest Valley Earthen Peak
Went through all of these today. Earthen Peak actually gave me a lot of trouble, but I managed to prevail.
I was talking about it with Floyd, and he said he thinks the level design of DSII is better than DSI, but the bosses in DSI were better. I agree with that. The bosses aren't giving me much of a challenge so far, besides Lost Sinner. I killed a bunch of them in one try. Still, I do love the level design. The environments are very atmospheric.
damn this game is addicting

Also, forgot to say the Executioner's Chariot is the first time I've been truly terrified/intimidated by a boss in this game. Damn, that shit's hard. Getting to the boss room is hard too.

Smelter Demon is rough. Yikes. Don't think I'm prepared for him yet.

I gotta say, the NPC AI is much improved. It's really nice when Lucatiel is standing there doing nothing when I'm blatantly attacking a boss. Or when she just falls off a cliff and dies right when I enter a boss room.

People are saying to get this gymn greatshield or whatever for that fight, it apparently has 100% physical & fire defense. Gotten as a drop from Doors of Pharros enemies.

Yeah, I got that just recently. Managed to beat him, although he was still pretty hard. Lucatiel didn't do much except die before I got a quarter of his health down. Guess I'm not getting her stuff, since she died against the Lost Sinner before I did any substantial damage to her too.
But I got another primal soul. I beat the main boss of the Iron Keep. He wasn't too bad, but I died a few times due to faulty rolling and getting knocked into that random pool of lava next to the entrance. I still really liked his fight. The Smelter Demon was also really fun, just because he was so tough for me.
The Iron Keep though, damn. What a place. I didn't die as many times as I had in other areas, but I was constantly nearing death. From is really sadistic for putting those turtle knights in those narrow hallways. There was one near where the bonfire was right before the main boss of that area, blocking the exit out of a room where fire was being blown at nearly every square inch. I didn't realize there was a bonfire, so I tried to fight him. At some point my health was so low that I thought I had died and was already mentally preparing myself for the long trek back. But to my amazement, I had a sliver of health left. I ran outside, healed, and lured that SOB outside and ruined him.
During that time when I was caught between the flames and that turtle knight, I saw option to climb something. So I went back after killing him and found a bonfire. And a means to turn off that damn fire.
Man.

Situations like that are why I chose to start with the magic stuff early but mainly focus on being physical, so I can kill enemies I'd rather not fight up close due to the environment or if they're just annoying

I've made it a tradition to start with pure strength builds on my first runs of Souls games I guess.
I wonder how far I've gotten. I feel like I've killed a lot of bosses but I supposedly have a lot more left.

You're at least several areas ahead of me, furthest I am is Earthen Peak, and that's only because I wanted to join the Sunbros covenant before I became too high leveled to easily get sunlight medals, so I ran through that area which the Miracle NPC opens up to get there. Died numerous times but much less than normal because I was cautious of always going too far without making sure I know everything that's around me so I won't get ambushed.

Earthen Peak gave me some trouble. I die much more often in levels than I do during boss fights, with a few exceptions.
A lot of the music I noticed is very subdued. It's still somewhat similar to Dark Souls, but it's not nearly as bombastic. I don't notice it as much as I did in Dark Souls. I do like the songs when I actually sit down and listen to them.
Honestly, many aspects of this game are taken from the best of Dark Souls and Demon's Souls, not just music. Gameplay elements, level design, and atmosphere too. It's like both games had a child.
Although I'm really, really liking it, part of me wishes that From made a new game with new lore. It would've felt cool to have like a Dead Souls or Dragon Souls or something. It would feel like a more "complete" trilogy. But I don't care that much. It's still really fun.
