Also, I like how the only reason for Alice's presence was so that should could do one math problem. As if a computer couldn't do that in 2074.

What is the general consensus of Radiant Historia around here (i.e. probably like 1 person)?

I've never heard anything but positives about it. Evidently it's like Chrono Trigger if made by Atlus. I own it, I just haven't gotten I to playing it yet. I recommend it on word of mouth alone.

I liked it. Didn't complete it (stopped near the end because I have incomplete RPG syndrome), but I liked it nonetheless. It had a very intriguing story to it that made everything in it connect very nicely. Coming from me, that's a big feat because I seldom enjoy stories in video games, I just want gameplay. I hate to sound so broad but I'm not going to say much if you're planning on playing it. I only abandoned it because Dragon Quest IX took up most of my DS time.

The battle system was...interesting. It was quite confusing at first, but over time, like with anything else in life, you get used to it. It actually keeps the battles fresh for a long time and there are plenty of puzzles to figure out too, in battle and outside. I can tell you're into compelling tales, so I can honestly say you won't be disappointed by picking it up. But then again, I borrowed my copy so maybe my advocacy isn't as authentic as it would be if I paid.

All in all, It's a great RPG that deserves some love. Atlus knew what they were doing when they decided to bring it over because for a rather obscure game, it shouldn't go unnoticed.

One thing that always bummed me though was that if your party of three were to ever be wiped out in battle, the backup characters wouldn't step up to take their place. It's the dumbest practice in RPGs ever imo.

Sounds good. Thanks for the input. It'll likely be my next DS game. I've heard it's got a great story from other sources too, so that's exciting.

Bravely Default is pretty good so far. I prefer its gameplay to its story. None of the characters stand out and the writing is really cheesy. I am enjoying the game, and the music is great. I am worried for the notorious endgame though.

How far are you into it?

Because the standout characters begin to stand out more as the game goes on. And I absolutely love the writing, especially in Ringabel's Journal. It has that baroque and slightly stuffy feel that tells you the authors have been studying their classics.

Everybody agrees that the gameplay (i.e. Brave/Default and the classes) are the real meat and draw of the game, though.

I know what you mean about the baroque style, but I dunno. Something about it doesn't feel genuine to me. Maybe I need some time to warm up to it. I'm not far into it at all.

I think I'm starting to ease into it now. I'm starting to enjoy the story somewhat, but I'm only on Chapter 1 so far. Also I killed that Merchant douche.

Its hardly that good though. If you've played any JRPG you pretty much know exactly what's coming up until a certain point. Its all about the Job System.

The story is pretty standard. I mean, I still enjoy it, and it's cool for what it is. The job system is fantastic though.

Victor and Victoria are pretty annoying.

Alternis is cool though.
