The gore doesn't seem that bad, but I'm only three episodes in. So I don't really know what I'm in for.
It's really dumb. I mean some scenes are just really poorly done, like when Kouki tries to stop that guy from running away in episode 3. I also don't really know what's going on with these immortals and angels, and it doesn't seem like the show is going to bother telling me. I think in that sense, it reminds me of Darker than Black.
But uh I'm actually enjoying this show a lot more than I should be.
In other news, I finally watched the last episode of Death Parade after stalling it for months. Good show. Maybe I'll check out Humanity Has Declined.

well, it's not so much gorn as much as it is the porn. and since it's anime, it's gross porn, too.
mnemosyne is kind of in this weird limbo where it's really hard to tell if, or likely how much, the writers were aware of how stupid it is. on one hand, you have ludicrous amounts of lesbian sex, some amazingly dumb/gross scenes, hilariously evil villains (evil lesbian torture nurse!) and the galneryus opening where it seems to kind of revel in how schlocky it is. on the other, about 60% of its runtime is spent on intrigue, whether or not that's for the situation at hand or the whole immortals/angels/apos thing going on, there are quite a few mythological/biblical themes floating around and you have this setting that constantly changes as time goes on (which is actually kinda neat) where it really does play itself incredibly straight. i honestly still don't know what to make of it. i think i mostly appreciate it because it's basically a modern (for a certain value of modern, since it's almost a decade old now lol) answer to those old 90s OVAs I used to watch, many of which were uh, worse than mnemosyne (hi, violence jack!).
also, the resolution/ending to episode 3 was hilariously, amazingly dumb. your daddy went out like a champ, son

I finished it last night. I don't really know what to make of it either. The gore didn't really bother me too much, and I wasn't really grossed out by the weird po rny scenes either. But still those sex scenes were excessive and kind of distracting. They would try to explain some concept, but at the same time shove naked women in your face, and I would end up not understanding what the hell they just talked about, unless I went back and watched it again. It had a lot of really cool themes though. Unfortunately the writing was also awful so it didn't exactly pull through. I also think I enjoyed the first three episodes more than the last three. Rin kind of lost everything that made her interesting until the very end. That said, I somewhat enjoyed what I saw. It was silly and extremely campy, but I wasn't looking for fine literature. 5/10 i guess

Yeah, I mostly enjoyed it for the "immortals stay the same throughout the changing ages" conceit, but it is what it is.

I really like Ergo Proxy. It's a little slow and sometimes obtuse, but it has plenty of integrity. It also has great OP and ED song choices.

You're gonna carry that weight.

It's a really solid show. Often overlooked, I'd say.

Agreed, I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would. Pino is also the one of the few child characters in an anime I actually like.

Done with Ergo Proxy. I'm surprised with how much I liked this show. I still don't quite understand everything, but still. Definitely an overlooked gem.
Still need to finish the following:
Parasyte Aldnoah Zero (ugh) Fate Stay/Night UBW Season 2 (ugh) Psycho-Pass 2 (ugh) Terror in Resonance Shigatsu Hellsing Ultimate Paranoia Agent
Will probably go with Paranoia Agent or Parasyte.

I'll finish it at some point for the sake of completing it. That said, I think I'll go with Paranoia Agent. I'm in the mood for something more cerebral.
