Paranoia Agent does mindfuck more than it does cerebral, tbh.
On the subject of Hellsing Ultimate, I just recently finished watching all of them. Sparked some old feelings, and I still love it, but in the end I realized Hellsing really is style over substance.
...But man, that style.

I should probably rewatch it since its literally been years but yeah that movie **** rocks. I've been meaning to read the comic at some point too.

The manga goes well beyond the scope of the film, doesn't it?
It's really a gorgeous film from an animation standpoint, too. Or maybe not gorgeous but really really good. Especially given when it was made.

From what I've read online, it covers the first two volumes and then just ignores the next four and jumps to the ending. Not sure how true that is, but that's a lot of content. I'd like to read it as well. Did you guys watch it subbed or dubbed? And if dubbed, which one? I watched the 1988 one and it was extremely campy but charming.
And yes, the animation was superb, especially for a movie made in the late 80's. I imagine it would've been more fleshed out if this were a trilogy of movies, but I don't know what the studio's financial situation was back then.
