I friggin hate nakama. It sounds dumb, like any other Japanese word inserted into English sentences.
What.

But Deebee you are my nakama-kun desu
That makes no sense even in Japanese.

What about hentai? Or tsundere? Or baka? Or any other number of japanese loanwords? Yes, I understand that English has a parallel word, (comrades, for you ignorant ones out there), but at some point don't you think that the translators get tired of doing a word everybody already knows?

I've only seen Hentai not translated when referring to the ****, never seen tsundere before, and I've always seen baka translated (although into many different words...).

Loanwords are a different matter, I guess. Tsundere doesn't rally have an english equivalent, that I know of.

And yes, I realize my original statement was very hypocritical, I say moe and stuff all the time >_>

I usually see "hentai" or "baka" translated into "pervert" and "idiot" respectively. Tsundere/yandere are both understandable though.

It's mostly a matter of nuances, I suppose. Nakama is supposed to mean basically the same thing as comrades, but the emphasis is much more on relationships and much less on going into combat together. And yes, Tsun/yandere are concepts only the japanese have words for.
