And I already said nominating immortal/near-immortal, super-powered characters is lame - I stand by that still.

That's why I didn't bother to think of Thanos or Galactus for this contest, nor in my thinking of who to nominate in the next one if there is one.

Actually, the Lobo vs. Blackheart fight put me in a positive moodset for this thing. Blackheart was the immortal, but Lobo won the fight anyway, albeit with some serious help.

The tournament may not be dominated soley by overpowered characters, at least not in the later rounds anyway.

Coming into this topic I thought Space Ghost would be raped by Kirby's popularity, but so far I've been pleasantly surprised that some people seem to be actually putting their power into question.

Even though the poll question is "Who do you think would win in a fight to the death?"?

If the question was "Who would you want to win?", then voting for who you think is cooler would work. If that had been it, I'd have voted Hiro over Thor, Wolverine over The Flash, etc.
