Going off of something I said earlier. What if this ability of Blackbeard's to consume more than one Fruit is the power of "D"? I'd expect Luffy to get something like a Logia fruit, combine that with rubber powers, and start kicking ass.

Just a thought.

Mm... I guess it's possible... I mean, Gol D. Roger must've had something to give him an edge... But partly why I like Luffy so much is that he can take a seemingly weak ability and kick all kinds of ass with it. Undecided

True, but Spandam wasn't exactly the prettiest guy ever.

Meh, might just be because I think being able to steal other people's powers is kind of cheap. I might warm up to Blackbeard being the big boss at some point <_<

It's more the fact that he's fat than him being ugly that bothers me. Lots of characters in One Piece are pretty weird looking, but really powerful fat guys annoy me for some reason... Like Fat Buu in DBZ.

And a silly ability, at that. I read somewhere that Oda specifically chose the rubber power because he wanted his main character to have a silly fighting style.

Ahh, like that. Yeah, that's not Spandam... he was pretty thin, and not powerful at all. Just a major, major ****.

Oh yeah, Spandam is definately the most detestable villain thus far.

Akainu is pretty horrible as well, but in a different way.

Yeah, Akainu seems pretty assholish so far... kind of in the way Lucci was. You know, with the whole justice thing.

Yeah, except that Akainu doesn't seem to actively enjoy maiming his opponents.

Woah... Now that I did not see coming...

Also, is it me, or does it seem like Crocodile's doing a heel-face turn?

And damn it, Jimbei better survive his injuries from Akainu. Too many awesome characters have died already...

I think it's more that he's grateful to have been released from Impel Down and it's his way of paying that back.

Wow, the pressure is really on Luffy. I wonder how he'll react to being the crutch of the Pirate world.

Still, it looks like he has the backing of the Whitebeard Pirates. And Trafalgar Law is helping him out as well. For the time being, at least.

I'm really just hoping that we don't get any more deaths of main/major characters. We've had two already, and that's really breaking the status quo.

Still, Law's submarine and him being a doctor was awesome.

Isn't his nickname "Surgeon of Death"? That kinda implied that he was a doctor... Though it could also refer to the way he attacks, I suppose...

This is probably just me being really slow, but does anyone else think that Blackbeard's been planning from the very beginning to get his hands on Whitebeard's Devil Fruit powers? I know he basically just said he was planning to get them, but I reckon this plan goes back before he even got his own Devil Fruit powers.

I mean, when he was about to fight Ace and told the story of why he took the Yami Yami no Mi and killed Thatch, he says that "that guy had the Devil Fruit I'd been searching for! I memorized it's every curve and point, that's how I knew it was the one! Decades I spent on Whitebeard's ship... I thought my chances of finding it were best in his crew!". Since he seems to use the Yami Yami no Mi powers to steal the Gura Gura no Mi's power from Whitebeard's corpse, maybe that technique, whatever it is, was the reason he'd been searching for the Yami Yami no Mi in the first place.

Feel free to ridicule me if this seems really obvious or stupid...

I think it fits too. It would certainly make sense that the stealing of those powers is the power of the Yami Yami no Mi.

Well it's clearly not the main ability of the Yami Yami no Mi, but it could be the one that Blackbeard was most interested in. The other stuff would just be a bonus.

I still hope Blackbeard doesn't gain more powers, though. Those two fruits are more than enough already...

I dunno, I just don't see why he wouldn't strike at a Logia first, or someone like Marko Phoenix. I mean, when you've just revealed to the world your plans for taking it over, invincibility is usually pretty high on my list of things to get out of the way first.
