I've only played the first four so that's all I can talk about really.

SS1 is a great fighter, at the time it was very innovative and different from Street Fighter II and its "clones" and Mortal Kombat (the two major types of fighters at the time).

SS2 is the pinnacle of 2D fighting games. Its balance is almost perfect, the character are great, single and multiplayer is fun, everything about it is perfect.

From a graphical stand point, SS3 was great. It had a darker, cooler look style. However, they ditched a lot of good characters from II, and the counter system was so wildly unbalanced it made gameplay a bit ridiculous. Still good but easily the weakest in the series.

4 fixed a lot of problems I had with 3. It brought back some cool characters, added some cool little gameplay techniques, kept the Bust and Slash system from 3, and reworked the counter feature. My favorite other than 2.

5 and 5 Special seem to have mixed views, whereas 6 seems to be universally liked.

Considering the price, seems like an alright game/collection, might get it.

Fighting games are pretty much the only games my father can play, might give him something to do.

If you or your dad are even remotely interested in 2D fighters, it would be a good buy.

And in all honesty, I'd pay the full price for SSII and SSVI alone. Getting the rest is just juicy, delicous extraness.

My friend is pretty good with Nakoruru, our best battles are when he's using her and I'm using Gen-An (in SS).

My other friend is good with Wan Fu in II.
