In other words, tl;dr?

Size < content. Simple content in a short message. Simple reason to dislike something.

The problem with Azumanga Daioh is that it's so polarizing in quality, mainly because the characters are the same way. Half of the characters suck to varying degrees, and the other half are likable in again, varying degrees. Though the show insists on spread appearances of each character, and becomes particularly fond of the two worst offenders, those two female teachers. Who are extremely boring and completely unlikable.

Just quoting this so that I may properly analyze, critique, dissect, scrutinize, extrapolate upon, differentiate from and taste in relation to my own doctoral thesis on the subject of Azumanga Daioh.

Looking way too deep into it.

Alright, short version: half the cast sucks, the other half is good, each appear at the same frequency. Hence, half of the show sucks, half is good.

Simple concept. I just love turning everything into a short essay, even two sentences.

I am totally watching Sengoku Basara if only for the fact that Nobunaga Oda is voiced by Norio Wakamoto.

I was not aware of that, awesome. <_< I only watched the first episode and it didn't really do it for me so I never continued.

Lured in by promises that it's like Gurren Lagann without the mechs?

Also plan on watching Akagi (I will not watch this anime in any situation that is not conjointly with Saki and nothing but Saki), Magical Pokaan (OP is so amazingly dissonant) and Planetes (which I highly doubt I'll finish anywhere near the time I began it)

But none of that will be viewed until Sketchbook is finished, and I won't bother with any but Sengoku Basara until Hayate is finished.

Pretty much. It had the heart but not the budget, and when you're more insubstantial as Gurren Lagann you really need the budget.

Watching Sketchbook at 2 in the morning is disturbingly pleasant.
