The main character is surprisingly pretty funny, but then again, that's probably because it's not focused on harem stuff, and it has a plot, and he seems to not mind being somewhat attracted to Hideyoshi.
Y'know, I actually might consider reading Kodomo No Jikan, mainly out of curiousity which is displayed as my mood, which was the main reason I watched Akira.
