Considering I haven't read any of that I can't really argue, but at the same time I can't agree with you.

Well if we're talking about books yeah, but this is anime.
Berserk, Parasyte, Zetman, Ubel Blatt, 20th Century Boys, BLAME!, Change 123, GITS, Laon, Trigun.

There's more....

Most of those suck.

They suck hard.

ALSO, I HAD NO IDEA THAT KINO IS A LOLI. INTEREST IN SHOW INCREASED.
I lol'd.

I saw it a while ago.  Like, once or twice.
I loved it.

Then again, I love everything.

Berserk - it's like a more "mature" naruto/bleach/one piece.  Just fighting.  Nothing "deep" about it.

Parasyte - just a typical sci-fi manga, like invasion of the body snatchers but without the symbolism behind it.  nothing "deep" about it.

Zetman - reminds me of Gantz.  It's really just another random superhero fighting thing.  But again without any symbolism behind it.  nothing "deep" about it.

Ubel Blatt - see Berserk

20th Century Boys - one of the only "deep" ones you mentioned.

BLAME! - like Serial Experiments Lain, minus the psychological bits.  Basically, it's cyberpunk.  It's just another action fighting anime.  Nothing "deep" about it.

Change 1 2 3 - just a fighting comedy.  nothing "deep" about it.

GITS - it's a little "deep", but mind you we're kind of on the shallow end here

Laon - the only one I don't know

Trigun - eh, just a fighting comedy.  It's got some "deepness" about it, but again - not much.

ALSO, I HAD NO IDEA THAT KINO IS A LOLI. INTEREST IN SHOW INCREASED.

I laughed. I honestly did. Considering that one of the themes of the whole series is that of fighting fate, and that humans create their own world, I'd hardly call it "Just fighting"

Parasyte - just a typical sci-fi manga, like invasion of the body snatchers but without the symbolism behind it.  nothing "deep" about it.

Except, y'know, about all of the discussions of comparative morality, the role of beings in the ecosystem, and the question of just should be allowed to live.

This wouldn't be accurate if it weren't a rather deep study of just what creating artificial humans would do, as well as the kind of people who either want to be, or end up becoming, heroes.

Could be that it deals with the nature of betrayal and heroes. Then again, your proctologist could be calling.

Well, I'm glad we agree on something.

BLAME! - like Serial Experiments Lain, minus the psychological bits.  Basically, it's cyberpunk.  It's just another action fighting anime.  Nothing "deep" about it.

Could be that I put it in there because it deals with the nature of humanity, what it would be like to live in that kind of world.

Yeah, just dealing with a girl whose personality is so deeply split, she doesn't even show any anger. And how it affects her wanna-be boyfriend. Not deep at all.

Quote
GITS - it's a little "deep", but mind you we're kind of on the shallow end here

Right until you get into Stand Alone Complex.

It's....not for the weak of stomach.

Your opinion, eh.

There is one thing, though. You seem to assume that just because a manga doesn't have Dune-level plot threads (BTW, Dune is far, FAR, deeper than Kino's Journey), it must not be deep.

Yeah, I've read Dune, I know. <_< As I said, that's books, this is anime.

Also,

Well now I laughed. That's such an incredibly common theme, you might as well call Higurashi deep.

Well, you certainly have to admit it's complex....

Higurashi? Not really. I suppose it could be complex if Berserk did it differently, though.

Oh yeah, Berserk does it differently. Very differently. *shudders*

And when I said complex, I meant Higurashi in and of itself.

*see what Ahriman said*.
Really, the themes don't matter when it comes to Berserk.  For the most part it's just fighting.  In the sense of it's themes, you may as well say Naruto is deep since it has the exact same themes.

Quote
Except, y'know, about all of the discussions of comparative morality, the role of beings in the ecosystem, and the question of just should be allowed to live.

Oh please, now you're just fishing for stuff that isn't there.  The entire plot is based on a guy with a lucky mutation that causes him to be an enemy of all the other parasites.  There's no such thing in it about who deserves to live or a persons role in life.  It's just about a guy fighting/fleeing from aliens.    Nothing deeper beyond it.

Quote

Deep study?  Really now?  It's just two superheros fighting each other.  There's no actual theme behind it.  Which is why I compared it to Gantz.  Because Gantz is absolute garbage.

Quote
Could be that it deals with the nature of betrayal and heroes. Then again, your proctologist could be calling.

Or it could just be an excuse for older guys to like random fighting anime.

Quote

Again, you're just fishing for straws.  Even though Kino's Journey is more explicit in it's mature themes, at least it's honest about its "deepness".  It shoves it in your face and its very clear there's morality behind it.  In fact, it has all of the themes you've mentioned and more.  It's deeper than almost everything you posted.  Hell, almsot everything you posted reminds me of those English teachers trying to find themes in books where the themes aren't there.

Quote
Yeah, just dealing with a girl whose personality is so deeply split, she doesn't even show any anger. And how it affects her wanna-be boyfriend. Not deep at all.

It doesn't take itself seriously though, that's the thing. It's a fighting comedy.  Nothing more.

Quote
Right until you get into Stand Alone Complex.

I wasn't arguing that.

Quote
It's....not for the weak of stomach.

Considering everything else you posted, I could handle it.  It doesn't seem like it would be deep anyway.

Quote

No, I'm not assuming.  I just know when to not look for things when they aren't there.
I never argued Dune was or wasn't deeper than Kino's Journey.  >.>

And now you're calling Higuarshi complex.
*facepalm*
