Yeah, MP2 was probably the weakest of the trilogy. It was still great though.

Ahriman is right. MP3 was more linear than MP1, also MP2 from what I've heard. The only two awesome boss fights were the first Ridley one and basically Rundas. Ghor and Gandrayda were pretty good. All the others were weak and forgettable.

I didn't really think the Rundas fight was anything special.

I personally found it better than any of the boss fights after that (even though the part leading up to Gandrayda was pretty new and exciting). What Ahriman said still stands, so I'm not sure why -911- would say he was wrong...

I do agree with Ahriman. MP3, while good, didn't feel as good to me. It might have been the environments, I didn't like a lot of them, especially when compared to the first two games.

I'm pretty sure 911 just likes saying I'm wrong for whatever reason.

Everyone likes saying you're wrong. It's fun.

And the only problem I had with MP3 was that it was too linear. And the parts where you actually had to backtrack felt like they were put in there because the developers said, "lol wait we gotz to put backtrackin!" in the middle of development. But while Metroid is a game with backtracking, I felt that MP2 overdid it a bit, which is why I ended up liking MP3 more. Metroid Prime on the other hand was near perfect.

Is it really so fun denying the truth?

I'll get to him once he runs out of SP. But even then I still can't hit him!

TEKKAMEEEEENNN

I think one of the best things about MP1 was the build-up to facing Metroid Prime; all the pirate logs before you meet it make it out to be such a terrible, unnatural abomination that you get worried knowing you'll have to kill it somehow. Phazon is already established as deadly, having killed/mutated beyond the limit of myriad creatures, but MP could take all given to it, assimilating weapons and technology...it's those aspects of Metroid, the ones that involve encountering truly fascinating and unexpected lifeforms or terrain that you could scan and examine, that make the series great to me.

That was partof my problem with MP3; nothing you faced was new or particularly unique and you didn't get that feeling of exploration, save for the derelict Valhalla ship. The entirety of that ship was my favorite part of MP3, followed by much of Skytown and the first Ridley battle. It was just perfect and the only thing that could have been added to it would be a boss battle at some point. But as it stands, it ranks as one of my favorite areas in all of Metroid.

The boss battle with Ridley where you are falling I remember was pretty awesome in MP3. The only thing I liked better in the second one than the others was the multiplayer mode.
