Saturday 5th March

11:02pm
Okay, off to Ecruteak to finally properly meet with these Kimono Girls.

11:25pm
I just ran into Silver coming out of the Dance Theatre. Seem he just got beaten by the Kimono Girls. It could just be me, but he doesn't seem quite as antagonistic any more... Anyway, it turns out the Kimono girls want to bring back Lugia for whatever reason, and they need someone with the right kind of bond with pokemon. Part of the test to find a suitable person was to give someone the Mystery Egg that hatched into Togepi, so they're the ones that gave Mr. Pokemon the egg in the first place. Now I have to defeat all five of them in turn to fully prove myself. Here goes...

11:46pm
Gah! This bloody Umbreon confused Muscle on the first turn and she hurt herself in her confusion every. Single. Turn. I never got the chance to attack with her... Oh well. Pell managed to avenge her. Good old reliable Pell... I'd like to mention the rather nice sliding door effect that appears onscreen just before you start a battle with one of the Kimono Girls. I just think it's pretty neat. Anyway, second battle...

12:11am
*sigh* These battles would be quite a bit easier if I could just choose which pokemon I want to start the battle with. The second Kimono Girl's Espeon almost took down Levi as a result of that... Oh well. Next battle...

12:14am
Well that went pretty smoothly. Rosso was able to take down the third Kimono Girl's Flareon without too much trouble, though he did get Burned in the process... Three down, two to go.

12:20am
That battle was pretty easy, but annoying. Mostly due to the fact that the fourth Kimono Girl's Jolteon pretty much just spammed Double Team and then kept trying and failing to use Last Resort. Still, eventually I managed to hit it with a Magnitude 9 from Burrows and it went down like a lamp. According to the Kimono Girl, the match was "so close" and she "almost had it". What match was she watching, exactly?

12:33am
****... Thanks to my own overconfidence Tesla got taken down by the final Kimono Girl's Vaporeon. He took most of its HP with a Discharge, and I thought I'd finish it off with Tesla's newly-learnt Signal Beam instead of another Discharge or even ThunderPunch. As a result the Vaporeon was left with a sliver of HP left and finished Tesla off with Surf, having already used it twice and got him down to about 30-40 HP. Still, there we go... I managed to finish it off with Pell. Anyway, after defeating the Kimono Girls, I have been deemed worthy to recieve the Tidal Bell. Now I have to meet them at the Whirl Islands. But first I'm going to stock up on some stuff...

2:17am
Okay, I think I've got everything I need. I won't be fully exploring the Whirl Islands yet, I just want to get in there, get Lugia, and get out as soon as possible. I can come back for items and other pokemon later.

2:34am
Huh... I just entered the small ledge overlooking the area where I'll be taking on Lugia, and I think it's quite impressive how they've managed to give it a real sense of depth. I can't wait to see how stuff like this will look in the Gen VI games that will inevitably come out on 3DS.

2:43am
Blimey, the whole Lugia thing has really been enhanced from the Gen II days. Used to be that you'd just walk up and challenge it. Now there's a big dance, special music, glowing bells, a cutscene of Lugia appearing... All very nice.

Well, here goes nothing... "Gyaaas!" indeed...

3:04am
YOSH! After a fair few resets (including accidentally knocking him out a couple of times), I managed to capture Lugia with the very first Dusk Ball I threw (I never got to the ball-throwing stage in my previous attempts)! How's that for luck? I didn't even need to put him to Sleep, I just Paralysed him with Tesla.

So anyway, the Kimono Girls were all very impressed and think I'm wonderful. Now, I'm getting out of here for a good night's rest. Goodbye all!
