See, that's something I've noticed. People always compare these movies to the original source and more often than not end up walking away disappointed. I just take the movies as they are. Of course, that doesn't save
all
movies from me thinking they're rubbish... *coughBatmanandRobincough*
And yes, he's named after Buzz Lightyear. My sister suggested it to me. The thought of calling a Weedle Lightyear was just too strangely awesome to pass up.
Well, I can't help it. It was my favorite childhood movie. Something that holds that much sentiment to me can't avoid being compared.
When I see movies, I tend to judge them in 2-3 separate criterias. I'll judge them from an entertainment standpoint, a critical film standpoint, and if it's a remake/sequel, how it holds up to the original. So I essentially formulate separate opinions for each criteria when I see a movie.

Well I guess that's fair enough if you were so fond of the original.
But the thing with Alice in Wonderland is that you
can't
really compare it to the original work, because they're two very different stories. It's best to see this film as a re-imagining, despite what Tim Burton says.
BTW, if you could respond to this in a PM, that'd be great. I don't want to clog up this topic with irrelevant things.

Alright. And I'm aware of that.
No need, I'm done with my though, really. Unless you want to continue.
Anyways, I'm quite fond of my nicknames.

Nah, it's okay. My RP characters tend to reflect my own tastes, so chances are it'll come up later anyway.
Care to give some examples of your nicknames?

Certainly. First, let me explain. My main team is composed of Pokemon I loved when I first played Gold, but was unable to obtain most of them. Plus, that was back in the day when no one created a full team and used legendaries all of the time. So a few years ago, I bought an old copy of Silver, and recreated a team using some of my childhood favorites, and a few new ones. So they have a great deal of sentimental value to me, and are all quite good, since I EV-trained them and bred them with proper natures, both benficial to stats and suitable for their personalities. So, here they are.
Main team:
Machiaveli
- Alakazam
Tesla
- Magnezone (previously a Magneton before 4th gen)
Cousteau
- Cloyster
Frederick
- Tyranitar
Siegfried
- Feraligatr
Sigmund
- Scizor
My secondary team, the one I'm currently working on, is similar in that I organized my favorites after playing Emerald, in which I never really had a full team for. I actually liked several 3rd generation Pokemon, and think that while it'll never be as good as 2nd, it still doesn't get enough credit.
Secondary team:
Inigo
- Ninjask
Sydney
- Sceptile
Desmond
- Aggron
SirWilliam
- Tentacruel
Feidelm III
- Salamence
Octavius
- Metagross
I also give my legendaries fancy nicknames, usually deriving from gods or deities.

Pretty nice stuff there. Even if I can't work out where some of them came from...
I don't think I'll be giving nicknames to the legendaries. It just doesn't seem right, somehow...
BTW, which version do you have?

I have SoulSilver.
Machiaveli is after the French philosopher, Tesla for obvious reasons, Cousteau is after Jacque Cousteau, the famous marine biologist. The others are just because I liked the names.
Inigo is from Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride, Sydney because I thought and Australian name would suit a gecko type creature, Feidelm is a dragon from some mythology I can't remember, and Octavius is a long story. I'll tell you later.
Like I said, I name my legendaries after gods and deities. Like, Lugia is Ryujin, the japanese dragon god of storms and the sea.

Thursday 22nd April
Sorry this is taking so long. I'm really struggling with thinking of nicknames for the latest batch of pokemon I'm going to be going after. Anyway...
11:02pm
I got up pretty early this morning (early for me, anyway) and caught myself a Ledyba. I remember being particularly annoyed that it was only available in the morning back in my old Silver version, because I'd spend my mornings either in school (where gameboys weren't allowed) or sleeping on the weekends. Anyway, I called him Francis.
Right now I'm off to take part in a late-night Bug-Catching Contest. Wish me luck...
11:14pm
Well that was quick. The very first pokemon I came across was a Venonat. It's only level 11, so it's highly unlikely to win me the contest, but it was the last pokemon I needed to catch here. Next time I can actually focus properly on winning.
11:37pm
Well, just as I predicted, I didn't win. Hell, I didn't even get into the top three. But, as I said before, I don't have any more pokemon to catch in the contests, so next time I can concentrate and play the contest properly, going after the best bug I can find. Anyway, I named the Venonat I caught Duster.
