I suppose...

I won't always have access to my laptop all day though, but I guess I could just type up whatever I remember. and I won't be playing much later at night, so...

Well, if the style you used for Dissidia is easier for you, then go ahead with that style. I was just throwing that out there.

Nah, I think I'll give the "jot things down" approach a try.

Now the question is whether or not to put all a day's "jottings" in one post or not.

Monday 5th April

4:00pm
I'm currently amusing myself by rotating the game box and making Lugia do somersaults. Dur hur hur...

...Just to give you guys the kind of level this blog will be written at.

6:49pm
Okay, I'm properly starting the game now. I would've done so earlier, but people kept wanting the laptop.

Well, the title sequence has been totally rejigged. But it's followed by a rather swanky 3D animation of Lugia swimming at the bottom of the sea.

Fun Fact: When I first played Silver, I thought Lugia was just flying at night rather than swimming in the sea.

6:55pm
Went through all the usual preamble with naming and such. I decided to call my character Nestor, after one of my RP characters. I normally call my character Archer, but that name is apparently already taken in these two games.

Anyhoo, I checked the PC and found an email from "Lyra".

"ADVENTURE!
EXCITED!

I love POKEMON!"

Intelligent, engaging stuff.

I'm now having to get used to the different menu system. HG/SS have the bag, trainer card, options, etc on the touch screen instead of a pop-up menu. Now I can finally put the text speed on "fast"...

7:10pm
Lyra's dad just rubbed the fact that I don't have a pokemon yet. I don't like him so far.

So, heading around to Prof. Elm's lab, while enjoying the new version of the lab music, I selected my starter: Totodile (two middle fingers and a raspberry to Falty). Didn't nickname him, can't think of anything good.

Went back to my house and got the Pokegear from my mum. Talked to the red-haired peeping tom outside Elm's lab and got pushed away. Nothing new there, then.

7:13pm
Just stepped out onto Route 29. Blimey, even the long grass has been revamped...

7:17pm
Just battling a Sentret. Why do pokemon use Foresight on a non-ghost pokemon? I'm scratching you up here, mate. You could at least defend yourself instead of ascertaining that my Totodile is actually tangible. To make matters even better, he used Foresight twice...

7:20pm
Just getting the guided tour around Cherrygrove City. Finally got the Running Shoes! Thank god for that... Headed to the Pokemon Centre before going out onto Route 30.

7:23pm
Woah, I'm liking the new Pokemon Centre redesign. Very neat.

7:29pm
My first wild pokemon battle on Route 30, and Totodile has already got to level 6 and learned Water Gun. Certainly a much better result than Piplup on D/P/P. Bubble sucks...

7:32pm
Just got the Apricorn Box from a guy on Route 30 that looks uncannily like Lyra's Dad.

7:35pm
Level 7! Get in!

7:40pm
Just reached Mr. Pokemon's house and got the Mystery Egg and Pokedex. Hooray for free stuff!

7:43pm
Totodile reached level 8 and learned Rage.

7:54pm
Just met my rival in battle for the first time. I like how he bangs on about me being weak when his only pokemon is currently 3 levels lower than mine. I feel a little bad about forcing such a nice-looking pokemon as Chikorita to hang around with that guy.

7:57pm
Just got the opportunity to name my rival. I resisted the temptation to call him something like "****" (besides, that's way funnier in R/B/Y or FR/LG with "Blue") and opted for the regular "Silver". I just couldn't be bothered to think of anything better.

Fun Fact: On my first couple of playthroughs of the original Silver version, I thought you actually had to call your rival "???".

8:04pm
Handed over the Mystery Egg and got told to take the Gym Challenge. Went back to my house and got my mum to save money for me.

Well, that's it for today. Sorry if it wasn't too interesting, but I'm still new to this style of blogging. Besides, I'm starting the adventure properly tomorrow.

Well can you blame me? Look at him.

So what version do you think you'd get? Zeldafan apparently has SoulSilver as well.

He does look like a good somersaulter.

Hm... It's the same problem I can remember having back in the day. I vastly prefer Lugia's design, but I think gold is a better color than silver...

I played silver a lot back then, so maybe I'll switch it up and get HeartGold.

Well, just like the original, you can get Lugia eventually in HeartGold. But if you're not sure, this page has a list of the exclusive pokemon for each version.

I never understood all the hype around the fire starters, and the Cyndaquil family is no exception.

Fire starters are hard mode. And thus, MANLY. Also, their evolutions are the most badass.
