Okay, I'm not going to actually continue with the adventure until tomorrow. I'm going to see a film in about an hour, and I'm very unlikely to play SoulSilver when I get back except for levelling up the last couple of pokemon currently in my possession.

Here's an idea. Build yourself a fully-functional team equipped to take on the rest of the story for now, as well as a few HM slaves, and then get far enough that you can level up the rest of the mons you catch easily.

It's far more efficient.

I just don't like doing too much of the game late at night, so I use that time for levelling up.

Thursday 15th April

5:47pm
Okay, I'm just going through the last few preparations before I head out onto Route 35. Y'know, visiting the Department Store, choosing pokemon, that sort of thing.

5:57pm
Well, I'm all set. Off I go...

5:59pm
Wait, I almost forgot to pick up the SquirtBottle at the Flower Shop first. Apparently there's now "nothing to worry about" with me owning one. What did this woman think I was going to do with it that was so dangerous?

6:01pm
The guard in the gatehouse asked me if I could make a delivery for him. I must remember to come back later...

6:33pm
Well, it seems I'm starting to get some fans. Juggler Irwin on Route 35 heard about me saving the Slowpokes back in Azalea Town and asked for my number.

7:05pm
I just caught a male Nidoran. I called him Kingpin.

7:26pm
I'm exploring the Pokeathlon Dome right now. I just got an Apriblender.

7:31pm
Whitney just showed up and gave me a Pokeathlon jersey. How nice of her...

7:37pm
Well, that's the Dome explored. Onwards to the National Park...

7:56pm
I just caught a female Nidoran on the way back from a dash to the Pokemon Centre. I called her Reina.

8:10pm
I like that fountain in the National Park...

Anyway, onwards to Route 36, where I'll finally be able to remove a certain tree-like obstruction...

8:14pm
Well, I now officially own the bike I'm riding. The guy from the bike shop just called and gave it to me in exchange for all the new business he's been having.

8:55pm
Huh... I'd forgotten the Bug-catching contest took place on Thursdays... I must remember to come back before the evening's out.

9:20pm
Well, Lightyear has finally become a Beedrill. Does his name make sense yet?

No longer will I be subject to the weird sight of watching a Kakuna following me as I walk. Just Metapod (and possibly Silcoon & Cascoon) to go...

9:43pm
Okay, I have reached the junction between Routes 36 and 37, now it's time to take care of this tree... Or should I say, Sudowoodo!

9:52pm
Well, Sudowoodo, you won't be performing any path-blocking shenanigans anytime soon. You're my pokemon now, and your name will be Hammer.

I also got the Berry Pots from a nearby worker from the Goldenrod Flower Shop as a reward, as well as some Oran and Pecha berries to get me started. I'm now heading over to Violet City to rest my pokemon and plan my team for the Route ahead.

10:08pm
Now, onto the final push towards Ecruteak City.

Actually, while I was preparing, I briefly took Hammer out of the PC and walked around with him in the Pokemon Centre to see if his walking sprite was at all different from the "odd tree" sprite. It is, as it happens...

10:34pm
Geez... I just fought a horrible double battle against a couple of Beauties and their Clefables & Wigglytuffs. They managed to knock out Ratigan, Fidget and Newton, but were eventually stopped by Tesla and Levi (good old reliable Levi...). On the bright side, Levi went up to level 21 and learned Ice Fang, expanding the number of types I can effectively use him against. I'm rather looking forward to my next battle against Silver...

11:06pm
I just caught a Stantler. I called him Prongs.

11:10pm
I just ran into Bill in the Ecruteak Pokemon Centre. He made a reference to the Hoenn region's Lanette when talking about the pokemon storage system, saying she made it easier to use. I rather liked that...

11:38pm
Okay, I'm off for a late-night Bug-Catching Contest.

12:11am
Well, I didn't win the contest, which is somewhat unsurprising when you consider I just caught a Caterpie and passed up a Scyther. The truth of the matter is simply that I had a nickname prepared for the Caterpie, but not for the Scyther. I'll try to come up with some nicknames for the other three pokemon I'm planning to eventually catch in these contests (Scyther, Pinsir and Venonat) and enter the contest again on Saturday, if possible. Anyway, I named the Caterpie Absolem. On the bright side, I only have to hold off Absolem's evolution for one level, unlike Lightyear.

1:42am
After much searching (and one attempt foiled by Roar), I've managed to catch myself a Vulpix. Her name is Sonata.

I think I'll leave it there for today. I'll explore Ecruteak City properly tomorrow/later today. Cheery-bye!

I'm going to do it for a Scyther, a Pinsir, a Venonat and a Caterpie (by far the easiest one). I'll also hopefully get some Sun Stones in the process.

Ah right, the Pinsir too. Though I don't think I ever used it... I used Scyther though. Because Scythes are awesome, and it's got scythes for arms.

My memory may just be flawed, (or I was too young to really realize) but you can get sun stones in the contest?

But because of those scythes, it can never hug someone...

And yes. The Sun Stone was the first prize in the original G/S/C, and will continue to be in HG/SS. Then, apparently, after you get the National Pokedex, other evolutionary stones get mixed in.

Still, hugging it becomes safer once it becomes a Scizor,

I remember being totally stumped by Sudowoodo when I played it when I was younger... I just could NOT figure out how to get past him. Since I only knew basic english (Which, funnily enough, Pokemon Blue taught me) it made it even harder.

I find it hard to imagine you not understanding english...

Nice accidental pun on being "stumped by Sudowoodo", BTW.

Well, I've been able to understand english from pretty early on in life... Mostly because I've been a gamer since I was like, 4, and pretty much all the games I played was in english. And in Denmark, we don't synchronize everything and dub it with danish voices, (thank god) so english has always been present when watching movies.

Thank you. I honestly didn't notice it until AFTER I hit the post button... I'm getting sloppy. So how is Hammer's walking sprite?
