Watched the first 3 episodes of Zombies on Trains. Entertaining enough so far.
Follow up: Is this show actually just Attack on Titan again? - humanity confined to walled settlements to defend against monsters - steam power - elite fighting force acts as protectors - main character is part monster and has some sort of a martyr complex - blood everywhere - Wit Studio - Hiroyuki Sawano On the other hand, do we really care?

it's attack on titan, except in fantasy japan instead of fantasy europe. Follow up: Is this show actually just Attack on Titan again?
- humanity confined to walled settlements to defend against monsters - elite fighting force acts as protectors - main character is part monster and has some sort of a martyr complex - blood everywhere - Wit Studio - Hiroyuki Sawano
this also describes seraph of the end, by the way, except a bit less dire and with a lot more yaoi. this kind of show seems to be the only thing that studio deals in

i've always generally assumed you weren't into manlet pretty boys whose feelings for each other are expressed solely by way of vague, ambiguous and unresolved angst and longing, so it's probably not winning any points there

let's be honest, it doesn't do much for anybody
doesn't help that the monsters are vague as all **** and actually not the focus at all, and that the powers are generic edgy "defeat the demon within yourself or it will devour your souuuuuuuuuuulllll"

episode 6 was pretty good
the random European dude is probably the best character in this show

as with any zombie fiction, the real monsters are always other people
anime doesn't seem exempt from this, least of all this one

I'm still 100% on board with Samurai Jack, but yeah, this episode didn't have any levity like the first two.

I haven't seen the last one yet, but the first two episodes (especially episode 2) were so good.

Finished watching Zombies on Trains. I dunno, I enjoyed it. Didn't suffer from nearly as many of Attack on Titan's problems. And it's self contained (maybe even too neat). I'd give it an 7-8/10.

I'm surprised that they somehow made it worse than just an empty/lame attempt at adaptation.
