Lulz, I already like it because of her. Everyone else seems cool too, 'cept Rock.
Also, is this dubbed because I'm watching it subbed as of now, and which one should I be watching if there's a choice?
The dub, for god's sake. And you'll either hate/love characters for the same reason others love/hate them. Rock gets awesome later.
^ In the manga, he becomes a good Balalaika.

You're gonna carry that weight.

*Makes note that I will not like Light if I ever watch Death Note*
And ok, ok. The only reason I watched the first one subbed is because I couldn't find the option for dub. It was hiding at the top of the video player.

Light is completely different from Rock. But he's a love/hate guy to begin with.

Case in point, I loved him (in a "love to hate" way) and UF hated him.

But he's voiced by Quatra. How could anyone like him?

ALONGSIDE GAOGAIGAR, SO LOL @ ARNAHAM RAGE Wow, you really butchered the context. Because it's interesting for the protagonist to be an evil ****.
Unless they're going all the way into complete monster-hood, not really. alsoalsoalso, is it just me, or are all of Rock's best moments kind of forced?

If you ignore everything that sets Light's character apart from all others, then yes, he and his story are played out. Saying "power corrupts" is an overdone storyline is as pointless as saying "death happens all the time". The circumstances of death are what matter to the individual; just because it always happens doesn't mean no one can take interest in it/be moved by it.

The execution of something, past what the topic of that something can be perceived as from a broadened perspective, does matter and can overturn the negatives that come from using a dead horse topic as a pivotal theme. Then again, the more a certain topic is used, the more nagging it may potentially be for the viewer who thinks about said topic too much, and even while the moment may strike home at the time, it may ultimately be deeply submerged in a sea of memories.

Quit thinking about power corruption when watching anime then. It's not difficult for one to understand why people find Death Note interesting without one finding it interesting themselves. I haven't known many anti-hero stories quite like his.
