Going from a career/life-shattering drug addiction back into being a respectable name in film.
I didn't know this.

I guess that would make sense when people were calling his role as Iron Man ironic...

It actually makes his role as Sherlock Holmes even more incredibly ironic.

i can't help but feel that the original intention was for jude law to play sherlock and RDJ to be watson (kind of like what happened with the Brothers Grimm). either way they wound up playing the roles perfectly. can't wait for the next one (already in production, btw).

I don't know about that, but allegedly Jude Law wasn't the first choice to play Watson. Guy Ritchie originally wanted Russell Crowe.

In related news, it seems to be reasonably common belief that Brad Pitt voiced Moriarty and might be playing him in the sequel. Anyone else kinda hope this isn't true?

I suppose, it just doesn't seem right to me somehow.

But then again, having seen what they did with Holmes and Watson, we can probably expect some changes to Moriarty as well. Changes from the accepted norm, anyway.

Another name I've heard being tossed around for Moriarty is Russell Crowe. Probably mainly because of the Watson thing, but still...

I'd prefer Russel Crowe to Brad Pitt...

Though I have no qualms with Brad Pitt, he's a good actor me thinks.

I can't see that.

Me neither. I don't mnd Brad Pitt, but it doesn't seem right...

Still, it's only a rumour. Frankly I think Russell Crowe has a better chance, but that's also just a rumour...
