I saw it in 3-D and it looked really cool. The story was alright and there were some genuinely badass scenes near the end.

If you want to see a movie that's solely flash and its only redeeming quality is its looks, watch Transformers 2.

Basic consensus, right down to seeing it in 3D.

Also, while 3D looks cool, I have to say I think rarely will I'll be watching movies in 3D again. Not only is wearing 3D glasses over my real glasses a pain, but I felt my eyes hurting near the end of the film.
Contacts help.

^ To a T.

I could start wearing contacts again, but it would take some getting used to again.

I went to see this ages ago, not in 3D, but I was overall impressed. Yeah the story is basically like Pocahontas or any other "going native" story, but the visuals are gorgeous and I was particularly impressed by the sheer amount of imagination that seems to have gone into making this universe.

Probably not. Maybe some kind of people's choice award, if there is one in the Oscars, but not best picture overall. Probably.

The biggest award ceremony I tend to pay attention to is the BAFTAs, essentially an Oscars warm-up, so...

It's tied for most nominations or something, so it could certainly happen, though most of its nominations are of course in technical areas.

Yeah, that's what I expected. I doubt it'll get any awards for acting, at least, 'cause as far as I know the academy don't seem to be very keen on performance capture roles.

Acting wasn't too bad though. The roles felt natural enough.

I know, but it might put the academy off that you don't actually see a lot of the actors/actresses themselves for most of the movie.

The colonel guy was the most hilariously over exaggerated performance ever. I guess you could blame how the character was written rather than the actor though.

I don't think it'll win Best Picture. It'll probably win Best Visuals and anything related to that, but it definitely will not win Best Picture. If it does, I will rage too.

I think you exaggerate quite a bit.

That 5 second shot where he was sipping coffee while looking down on the tree thing getting bombed was just too great.
