Kind've old, but interesting. After what Raimi did with Venom, the series almost deserves a reboot. Even though Lizard (one of my favorite villains) was slated for Spidey 4, I'm curious to see how this reboot goes. (same with the Daredevil and Fantastic 4 reboots)
What do all of you think about the reboots?

loldisney Also, I hope nobody goes to see this movie and it dies. Comic book creators and movie creators need to learn that rebooting a franchise is something that needs to be done VERY VERY RARELY, not whenever they feel like it.

Well if anyone can make a worse movie than the first two F4 movies, it's that guy.
And where's my goddamn Avengers movie Marvel? Screw the reboots, hurry up with establishing Captain America and Thor.

This is retarded. From beginning to end IMO.
The Spiderman movie franchise doesn't need a reboot. It's young, it's not an old franchise in need of refreshing. It's had two successful movies, and one semi-succesful one. No need for rebooting.
The worst part for me, is that this isn't just a reboot, it's a gritty reboot. Newsflash Hollywood, you know why Batman getting a gritty reboot was so succesful? Because The Goddamn Batman was gritty TO BEGIN WITH. Spiderman isn't gritty, Spiderman isn't meant to be gritty, when Spiderman is gritty, he sucks. He is horrible. Look no further than Spiderman 3. Spiderman gets angrier and grittier in that movie because of the black suit, and the audience HATED it.
Try to imagine it. An entire franchise, based around emo-spidey from Spiderman 3. That's the recipe from a horrible, horrible, horrible movie franchise. Spiderman is meant to be funny, that's his entire schtick. Making the series way too serious, and way too gritty will remove the charm of Spiderman. It'll turn him into a boring and fail Batman ripoff.
And I blame Batman entirely for this. Hollywood took one look at the Dark Knight, and said "Durrrhurr, a gritty realistic reboot worked for Batman, so therefor it must work for ALL superheroes!" And no. It doesn't. It doesn't work for all heroes. I'm sure the movie will see some success... the young, unknowing kids who've never seen the funny, quipping Spiderman will probably enjoy it and think it's cool. And who knows.... maybe I'm wrong, and maybe it'll turn out alright. But I doubt it. I believe they will **** Spiderman in the ass for money, just like they raped Batman in the ass for money back in Batman and Robin.
That's what I think of the reboot.

I remember when ILS told me that I got "Ahri-pwned" in that other topic where I raged about Batman, similarly to how he is raging about Spiderman now... I successfully prolonged the "discussion", despite his futile efforts, yet even still.
But yes, Spiderman and Batman may both be heroes, yet are completely different. A girl in the magazine writing class I'm in did a story about that very subject (also about Batman/Spiderman).

Ahri-pwned
wat Also the reasoning for the reboot is that Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire both left and it would be strange if they just continued the story without them. Still stupid to restart this soon, but yeah.
