Every fear I've ever had about your Doctor Who has just been confirmed.

How can it possibly confirm anything when no-one's seen any episodes from the new series yet? This is a huge overreaction.

You have the worst opinions in the world.  It's people like you that allows the kitschy mainstream media to thrive.  From now on, If I ever see you post again, I'm going to ignore it because I already know it won't add anything of substance to the conversation.

Wait, what? You mean there's now going to be sparkly vampires in Doctor Who?

There will be vampires in one episode, yes. But said episode is being written by Toby Whithouse, the creator of Being Human, and that show could not be more different to Twilight, other than the fact that they both have vampires and werewolves.

Having read the article, I'm hoping that they just meant it'll have more of a darker, more Tim Burton-esque feel.

Having read the article, I'm hoping that they just meant it'll have more of a darker, more Tim Burton-esque feel.

The quote ends with "but it's still absolutely, slap-bang, mainstream Doctor Who.", so I'm guessing that'll be the case.

But Moffat's episodes have often had almost fairy tale-esque themes to them, playing on childhood fears.

The Girl in the Fireplace - monsters under the bed
Blink - statues coming to life
Silence in the Library/The Forest of Death - fear of the dark

The only ones that don't seem to fit that trend are The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances. It's not like this is anything new. The writer of that article is probably just commenting on the shift from RTD's style of writing to Moffat's.

Same here. I just hope the same standard is brought to the new series.

Of course, it's not like Moffat will be the only writer. Check this out: http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Series_5_%28Doctor_Who%29#Episodes

Seems like a decent bunch of guest writers to me.
