And I spent 20 dollars on it. Just for the first volume.

20 damn dollars.

20 goddamn dollars I'll never get back.

But I read it all and I couldn't stop until it was over.

I'll spend 20 more damn dollars to see it through.

To see just how deconstructed this telling of Robin's origin can get.

The first post is how the entirety of the dialogue is btw. Cyclic, and jerky. It's is almost definitely a stealth-parody (Batman and Robin paint themselves and a safehouse entirely [entirely] yellow when meeting with Green Lantern; the Joker never smiling; Superman not knowing he can fly, etc.). It's like Frank Miller put his Sin City characters into superhero costumes.

Even still, there's a few moments that are genuinely cool/heartwarming (Batman, in an inner-monologue, describing Gotham as he runs along the rooftops; him taking Dick back to the Graysons' graves to  say goodbye).

But yeah.

Batman knows he can (somehow) but Superman just runs on water...

It does point out a lot of stupid stuff in the DC universe though; Green Lantern making over-sized flashlights and mousetraps, the name "Batmobile", etc.

But even still. On purpose or not, it's hilariously awful.

Oh! They had that in my local Waldenbooks before it closed down, and I read the entire thing in the store once.

It was....interesting, to say the least.
