I'll wait for David to respond and see if he wants to position before I start seriously deciding who gets the job.

I thought of another reason a trainer might be in the group: Bodyguard.

If you read Pokemon special, apparently during the Diamond/Pearl arc, the whole reason Diamond and Pearl were originally traveling with Platinum was because they were supposed to be her bodyguards....or that is to say, she thought they were her bodyguards.

Maybe Professor Maple asked one of the trainers to look after Raine?
