On Anime, no less.
1) Naruto
2) Bleach
3) Death Note
4) Yakitate Japan!
5) Trigun
6) Cowboy Bebop
7) Gurren Lagaan
8) Rurouni Kenshin
9) Hellsing
10) Gungrave
11) Samurai Champloo
12) Full Metal Alchemist
13) Hajime no Ippo
14) Berserk
15) Chobits
16) Outlaw Star
I was somewhat surprised that even HE likes Gurren Lagaan the most. >_>
I'm a little hesitant to watch Bleach, considering all the complaints I heard about it's pacing and what not.
Don't know where to start with the list, but my brother left me with this one piece of advice: ALWAYS WATCH ANIME IN JAPANESE. He doesn't believe in a "good dub".

There are good dubs.... But you won't watch them anyway because it's harder to find....
Start with Gurren Lagann....
Also add Baccano to the list.... And go with dubbed....
It's free, legal and excellent quality.... And the show is awesome!

How can you suggest Gurren-Lagann, Hellsing, Fullmetal Alchemist, and most of all Cowboy Bebop and say there's no such thing as a good dub.

Indeed.... I've only seen TTGL and Bebop dubs but they are brilliant.... Also Death Note is good too seeing as there's alot of dialogue.... And of course Baccano which I linked to....

Surely your brother at least said "...except Cowboy Bebop" when telling you not to watch dubs. There are a lot of good shows on that list though, notably 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, and 16.

Look, I know I'm just an unfamiliar user on the Internet, but take it from me (and really many of the other users): DO NOT LISTEN TO YOUR BROTHER ABOUT DUBS. There are some fantastic dubs out there, and if you watched Cowboy Bebop subbed, you're crazy. Dubs are great, accessible, and can be amazing. This whole "Only watch anime in Japanese" fad is stupid as hell.
And tell your brother to start giving dubs a chance too. >_>

1. Maybe. Only the first 135 episodes though, Shippuden sucks balls. Dub is fine.
2. Like the first 60 episodes and just pretend it ends there. Dub is fine.
3. Very good show. You can go either way. I watched the dub.
4. Dunno.
5. Hell yeah, this show ruled. And please watch the dub, because it's fantastic.
6. It's just a bit overrated, but it's great. And the dub is an obvious choice.
7. See Cowboy Bebop. However, you could go either way with dub or sub. I watched the sub.
8. Dunno.
9. Dunno.
10. This show is amazing. Dub dub dub dub dub. Sub is good too, but I'd recommend the dub.
11. Best anime ever made. Dub is amazing.
12. Also another amazing show with a AAA dub.
13. Dunno.
14. Great show, but you'll have to go on reading the manga since the anime ends prematurely. The dub is good.
15. Dunno.
16. Dunno, but I saw the first episode dubbed, and it was good.
Also, if you're going to watch any of the "Big Three Shonen" (Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece), go watch One Piece first. It's much better than the former two, although Naruto was actually pretty good pre-timeskip. Bleach was also good too until like the end of the Soul Society arc 60 episodes or so in.

*Clears throat*
Having watched almost all of these (except Hajime no Ippo) these are all excellent anime to start with.
The only ones I'd recommend striking are numbers 4 and 15. 4 because I don't like it, and 15 because it doesn't particularly mesh well with the others.
If you're going to watch Hellsing, I suggest that you not watch the TV series, but instead watch Hellsing Ultimate. It has much better animation and incredible voice acting. Of course, anything with Crispin Freeman in it has incredible voice acting by default.
If you're going to watch Fullmetal Alchemist, I'd also recommend watching both series in full, as while there is divergence, both stories are truly entertaining.
As always, skip the first episode of Gungrave.
All of these have wonderful dubs, so I recommend that you watch them dubbed whenever possible.
That is all.

lol, chobits is quite different from the rest of those indeed... I should watch that.. .Sounds like something I'd like >_>
All of those are honestly solid recommendations. As much flak as the likes of Naruto and Bleach get around here, they're not flat-out horrible.
I really can't think of any more good recommendations... Except One Piece, of course.
Oh and Black Lagoon solely so I can pre-empt Spring >_>
