I thought Nick Cage was actually quite good in this... Big Daddy has a bit of an Adam West Batman vibe about the way he speaks. When he's in costume, anyway.

Nicolas Cage has been in really good films and has been "decent" to "good" in them. The comedies and light dramas he's been (Leaving Las Vegas, Raising Arizona) have been good. His sucky films are the period pieces and way too serious action movies (save for Face Off, because he dual wielded gold plated M1911A1s).

*Picked it up on Blue Ray today*

I really cannot watch this movie enough. It's taught me to stop picking fights with eleven year old girls. And I think... I think that's made me a better person.

I loved that movie. Like I saw it a few weeks ago and ever since I just like have sorta been obsessed with it. Big fan of Hit Girl here. >_> That movie was a bad influence on my mother, though. Shes now on a journey to find a pink utility belt -.-;;

Movie was brilliant. Other than the hilarious ridiculousness that ensued from the jetpack, it was wonderful. And as silly as that was, it was also awesome. I think that I actually liked the movie more than the graphic novel (even though the idea for both was concieved simultaneously, so it doesn't count as much).

One of the main reasons for that is Big Daddy didn't actually do a whole ton in the comic. In the movie, his ass-kicking level went up by 50.

I've read about the comic, and flicked through it a couple of times in bookshops, but I can tell I'd prefer the movie. The major differences I can recall are that Big Daddy in the comic was never a police officer (he basically just thought it'd be cool to be a superhero, kind of like Kick-Ass himself, thus making him a lot less sympathetic), Dave doesn't manage to get together with Katie in the end (she apparently even has her boyfriend beat him up after discovering he's not gay), and Red Mist is much more of a malevolent **** and lacks the film version's few redeeming qualities.

All of this is true. However, Red Mist is set up to be a much better bad guy in the comics, however. But I digress, I do like the movie better.
