Updated: It's been confirmed that Sentinel's health has been nerfed. It's about 910,000 now — down from 1,300,000. Sentinel has a bit more stamina than Spider-Man now (900,000), but less than Wolverine (950,000). There may be other changes in the patch as well, time will tell. As they're discovered, they'll be reported here on the front page of the website.

Users who start up Marvel vs. Capcom 3 today will be prompted at some point to download an approximately 1 megabyte update for the game on Xbox Live or 23 megabytes on PSN. The update contains Event Mode, along with some other balance changes.
Event Mode won't go live until March 25, 2011, and it contains a series of special challenges. Completing these challenges will unlock various titles, which are detailed in the Brady Games strategy guide, on page 397.
There may be other things offered in this mode as well, but so far Capcom has been very hush hush about what will be opened up.
Going by the available titles, there are 50 challenges in event mode for players to take on.

Lul, I didn't think Sentinel was too bad in this in all honesty. He wasn't completely unbeatable, like in MvC2 but was mostly just a high-tier character to me. If anything from my past experience, Amaterasu needs a larger hitbox, Wesker needs to be slower, and level three X-Factor needs to be less ridiculous.

Level 3 X-factor is debatable, Ammy is beatable, and Wesker can be predicted, outsped, and outprioritized. But Sent...well, all this really means for Sent players is that they can't just use him to soak up every single hit that comes his way and still own everyone. This won't really change his tier ranking much, since they left everything else that made him broken (read, everything that actually made him broken, to which the super high health was simply the cherry topping). I'm predicting that sooner or later we're going to see an actual Sent nerf.
But hey, at least he's a lot more killable now.

What really needed the nerf were his specials. I remember a video where a Sentinel took out two characters with full health using an air combo followed by that energy ball special with a level 3 X-factor.

Be fair, one of those characters was Phoenix wasn't it? Can't remember, all I know was Sentinel destroyed a team in like 33 seconds with level 3 X-factor on and the damage ratio looked severly broken |

EVENT MODE **** YEAH.
Hope it's interesting challenges and not just 50 different "Beat character x with character y withing 1 minute" or something like that >_> A few of those are cool, but not 50 of them.
