As far as villains go, DBZ has always produced quality baddies in my opinion. I Still have a tough time ranking them because they're all so great. I kinda wish the final few episodes gave more opportunities to other characters like Gohan or Vegeta to be the hero. Goku had his time in the **** spot light, let some one else do it. Gohan's supposed to be the most powerful character in the DBZ canon, but he didn't do **** except kickass for maybe four minutes before losing... >_>

But Goku didn't beat Buu, Mr. Satan did.

He probably could have though if he didn't hold back just so Vegeta could have a shot at him.

I doubt it. The only characters that likely could have actually killed Buu without the Spirit Bomb are Gohan, Gotenks, and Vegito.

Well he did say he was holding back for Vegeta, otherwise he could have just put all his energy into one attack and wipe him out immediately. And the spirit bomb is easily the worst attack for that situation, given that even after taking energy from Gohan and the others, the ball wasn't even big enough to kill Frieza, when Gohan alone should have been able to curb stomp Kid Buu several times over.

They wished for Goku to restore to full power again so he could use the Spirit Bomb and he didn't just kill Buu on his own then, so I doubt Goku at full power could have killed Buu, he just would have regenerated. The advantage with the Spirit Bomb is that it can be infinitely powerful, which cannot be done with any other attack, and since nobody present could beat Buu otherwise that was the only option.

I don't recall anyone mentioning that Buu could only be killed by something like a spirit bomb. The real reason it was used was so Goku could be the hero, using a technique which was once considered needless when it failed to work on Frieza, by using it to finish off the Kid Buu.

it was the only thing goku could do to kill buu at least

But they still didn't even consider just wishing Gohan up there, who had previously curb stomped the original Super Buu with little effort.

Gohan would've obliteraped Kid Buu, that wouldn't have been interesting in the least. Couldn't they wish for Buu not to exist.
That's outside the dragon's power.

I would have enjoyed it regardless, and Kid Buu is actually one of my favorite DBZ villains, just cause the guy doesn't give a ****.

I do like that finally a villain decided to go on and blow up the planet, but he was basically a mindless entity with no character so I didn't really like him.
