Someone please explain to me what this is, I keep hearing about it all over the place, and am confounded by what it's supposed to be.

From Wiki. MS Paint Adventures is a collection of webcomics written and illustrated by Andrew Hussie.[1] The site has over 5000 pages in total, averaging about 6 single-panel updates per day. Through advertisement and merchandising, the comic generates enough income to support its creator, making it one of very few self-sufficient webcomics.
The comics, called "adventures", are presented in a manner that parodies interactive fiction games. The characters' actions are driven by commands, ostensibly provided by the reader but in reality fabricated by the author or selected from suggestions provided by the comic's official forum. The comics tend to draw inspiration from interactive fiction and video games in general, imitating and parodying genres such as RPGs and simulation games.[2] The stories also contain a variety of plot elements parodying various internet and social phenomenon such as H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos.
Homestuck is the largest, most recent, and most popular adventure, described as "combining the themes and feel of EarthBound, The Sims, and Spore" by the author[3]. The story follows four teenage children as they play a video game that brings about the end of the world, while exploring the game's cause and ultimate consequences. As in Problem Sleuth, the adventure is characterised by time travel, mystery and a complex, largely-undefined fictional universe. Unlike the previous adventures, which exclusively used GIF images for animation, this adventure introduced the use of complex Flash animations, some of them involving music provided by the comic's community. Several soundtrack albums have been released under Hussie's own record label, What Pumpkin[4]. So far, this is the longest running adventure.

But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured." - Kurt Vonnegut, jr.
