Saw it this morning. It makes me want to tie them all to a boiler in a rundown apartment and return the favor for him.

And then they arrested his son for attacking the fire chief. Beautiful. Nicely done Tennessee.

I feel dirty for having laughed at the title.
Pretty damn cruel though, but that's life...

Oh, so that's why my friend from Tennessee claims that he lives in the country's worst state. In retrospect, I'm sorta convinced.
If society there is so backwards, it would only make sense if the chief was required to pay in order to report an assault. Well, sense as far as senselessness goes; whichever way that is, I'm sure that nobody with any sense would have paid for that monster.

I was just about to write a story about a mafia-owned fire department.

Geez what is wrong with this backwards world?
They should have put out the fire and then taken his stuff as payment....

That...should not be how a fire department works. That is wrong. That is wrong.
I know that I'm more sensitive about fire and firefighters than most of you are, since I'm from SoCal, but this...I cannot help but say that this actually shocks me. That is a breach of the trust that people place in fire departments, and a breach of the responsibility that fire departments hold for...y'know...putting out fires.
I think the other fire chief quoted in the article put it best, though. Fee or no fee, they're firefighters. They fight fires. It's what they do. Not doing it is just...evil.
