This is the Nolanverse we're talking about, not regular Batman.

For me it would depend on how much Bane grows while using his venom. I can't see him fitting in the Nolanverse at his The Batman or Arkham Asylum sizes.

There's also the issue of finding someone of the right build who can actually act.

Okay, think about it this way:

You're a regular moviegoer, and have never read a Batman comic in your life.

You decide to see The Dark Knight Rises, having seen the other two Nolan Batman films, and knowing that they were quality work, expecting the same of this film.

The main villain of this movie is a guy who dresses like a Mexican Luchador, and is powered by some bizarre formula that has almost magical steroid-like properties. And if that wasn't odd enough, this villain proceeds to easily defeat Batman, and to top it off, snap his spine, crippling him for life. Now the protagonist of the movie completely destroyed in every aspect possible, giving you now hope as a viewer. Then, all of a sudden, Bruce Wayne conveniently discovers a secret government serum that cures him instantly from a wound that should have killed him in the first place. Batman is all healthy again, and defeats Bane by outsmarting him through a complex plan.

Now, tell me, given the context of the first two movies, how believable do you think this would be?

They could try Mickey Rourke, it helps that I've been really into him lately. But yeah, Bane should only grow to a realistic size like in the comics and in the later TAS series. As long as he isn't like in Batman and Robin. >_>

Watch Nolan get replaced at the last minute and they push a PG rating.

I know, but it'd be silly regardless of whatever form he was in. Scarecrow's fear chemical seemed plausible because it dealt with chemical reactions in the mind, functioning on a hormonal level. Venom has an almost instantaneous reaction, and seeing a normal-sized guy go to Hulk-size in seconds is pretty hard to take seriously.

And even if he was a more realistic size, then he'd still be silly. Oh, no, Gotham is being terrorized by a body-builder in a Mexican wrestling outfit! If you went that route, Venom wouldn't have much more effect than steroids. And then the viewers just look at this guy and think that he's just another specialized thug. Like the head of a gang. Just a slightly important henchman.

I'm not saying that Bane is a bad villain, he's just a bad villain in the sense of the Nolanverse.

I still want Two-Face, I feel he was interesting enough in TDK to have a film with him as the main focus. Though I wouldn't mind someone else.

I never really said that Bane should be the main villain either, he'd be much better as the brutish anti-hero like his later appearances in the comics.
