I saw the Bards tonight.

The openers were rather inconsequential. Seven Kingdoms, a cliche female-fronted metal band, and Holy Grail, a thrash metal band with a lead vocalist who sounds like Steven Tyler except he might be a better singer.

Guardian was fantastic. A truly spectacular show. The whole time, I kept wondering who tricked them into actually coming down here, but the place was actually pretty packed. There were a lot more people than I expected to be there, but I guess twenty years is enough time to make fans anywhere, even "Northern Carolina" as Hansi called it.

Speaking of Hansi, he was magnificent. Everything I wanted him to be and more. Basically one of the coolest nerds ever with the best voice in Power Metal.

The setlist, as best I remember was as follows:

"Sacred Worlds"
"Welcome to Dying"
"Born in a Mourning Hall"
"Nightfall"
"Fly"
"Time Stands Still (At the Iron Hill)"
"This Will Never End"
"Bright Eyes"
"Lord of the Rings"
"A Voice in the Dark"
"Imaginations from the Other Side"

Encore:
"Wheel of Time"
"The Bards' Song (In the Forest)"
"Majesty"
"Mirror Mirror"

I think that was it, but I'll correct it once it's posted somewhere.

They played so many of the songs I wanted them to play that I wasn't disappointed that they didn't play others. They said they would come back soon, so I can only hope that's the truth.

"Tomorrow will take us away,
far from home,
No one will ever know our names...

But the Bards' Songs will remain."

Yeah, my brother really wanted them to play that, but they didn't.

I got the setlist right except had two songs backwards.

I would also like to add that their songs were made for audience participation, which was awesome. I sang myself hoarse.
