I'm surprised a topic hasn't been made for this yet (I think...), so I'm starting one.

Anyway, a trailer's been released for those who haven't seen it.

It looks pretty cool to me, but I've always felt this would be the hardest one of the pre-Avengers movies to get right, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

Also, it seems there's been quite a lot of hysteria over the casting of a black actor (Idris Elba) as a Norse god (Heimdall). Silly people...

It is very silly that there's such an outroar just because of that. I mean yeah, Heimdall WAS white, but this is just a movie. If the actor is good, his color doesn't mean ****.

Don't know much about Thor the comic book character, or his series... Ironic considering it's based on Norse mythology, and I'm the only 'northern' guy here <_<  I can't tell how good the movie will be based on the trailer due to my lack of knowledge though.

Probably gonna suck, but Norse mythology and Anthony Hopkins is enough for me to enjoy it on some level.

Should be fairly entertaining, though I honestly don't care much about Thor the comic character.

I didn't either, but this movie has piqued my interest in his series.

Seems like it'll contain deliciously hammy acting though, always a good thing.

Brian Blessed should've been Odin.

Well, I liked it. Not as much as Iron Man, but it's still pretty damn good. And there are references aplenty. Bring on Captain America and The Avengers!

I enjoyed this, but mainly because I'm a huge nerd and because Chris Hemsworth is really hot, not so much because it was a good movie, per se. Certainly wasn't bad though.

I liked it, but then again I'm too lenient and tend to like a lot of things unless they're just that bad.

I saw the slow-motion dropkick in the trailer and immediately thought of it as an action popcorn flick, rather than the next X2 or Spiderman 2.

Eh. I saw it, and it was okay, but I just felt that it spent far too little time on Earth for us to really see the changes in Thor's character. As it is, he basically goes from...well...Thor to Jesus in the space between one scene and the next. His affair with Earth is just a little too wham-bam-thank-you-maam, and doesn't get enough focus in the film.

The phrase "character development" was not even used when writing the script for this movie.

Exactly. Even though it was practically the whole point of sending him to Earth in the first place.
