....What. The. ****. If you haven't heard of it, it's basically a bill that will ban the streaming of copyrighted content. The way I understand it, that 30 second video from Just Cause 2, where you did some hilarious s hit you wanted to show to your friend? It'll send you to fucking PRISON. You will serve jailtime alongside serial killers, rapists, drug dealers and robbers. And you'll do so because you wanted to share a fun moment from a videogame. I don't know if it'll actually pass, but the mere fact someone sat down to propose it, I find outrageous. If it was just trailers, I could maybe understand it, but all streaming of copyrighted content? That's just insane. Developers should stand up and say something too, because they get a LOT of free advertisement from random gameplay videos, much more than they imagine I think. http://kotaku.com/5817735/wait-a-minute-could-uploading-video-of-video-games-really-send-you-to-prison

Heard of it. By the way, that article omitted the fact that it exclusively bans streamed content that generates a certain amount of revenue or equates to its worth ($2500 for every 6 months), which is a very major aspect. Stay classy, Kotaku. That said, while it's a non-issue for the casual streamer, it rapes tournaments and potentially sets a nasty precedent. Regardless, the first thing that I thought is that it wouldn't pass: the United States has problems with prison overpopulation, and in some regions, it is not uncommon for people who have committed more severe felonies to received reduced sentences in order to stuff worse people in. I highly doubt that people actually care enough about something as petty as this that they would allow something that useless to pass. Even under the very unlikely circumstances that it does pass, it'll be underfunded and rarely emphasized; it'll be useless as a law, to the point where it will likely fail to serve even as a precedent.

I found the address of the woman that proposed it.
Yeah, she's going to get beamed by a lot of people. As if she hasn't already.

Won't get passed, but I think some of these politicians are wildly uninformed and aren't using their heads. Too many companies would get screwed. Hell, most of Youtube's gonna be screwed.
