Went to the movie theater. Back again.

Three hours. Of me in my seat. Staring at New Zealand. Again.

Well played, Peter Jackson...

...Also, the Goblin King is a Vogon.

went and saw it in the 48 fps format.  Was not disappointed, but it can be kind of jarring during the action sequences.

Yeah, I was undecided on it. Thought it looked odd in a few places. I'd like to see it in just regular old whatever fps.
I enjoyed the movie, though.

I don't know if it makes a difference seeing it in 3D (I didn't), but I didn't see any real problems with the framerate or CGI. I have a whole new respect for Dwarves, though.

I like how they re-used some of the themes from LotR, although I did think it was odd that for the moment where Thorin is charging towards Azog they chose to use the theme (or a similar one) for the Ringwraiths in Fellowship.

I don't know if I saw it in 48 FPS, but I saw it in 3D and the only problems I had were with some of the action scenes seeming to have a lot of motion blur.

Then again, I wear glasses, so 3D's already a problem for me.
